I don't have a problem with resurrections. I saw the thread come back alive but didn't reply, but will now.

I had a 2009 outback, so no, my insurance didn't decrease. But, I don't shop my insurance around like I should. I've had nationwide for home and car for a long time, and they took me as a customer when statefarm dropped me for, reasons, so. I've gotten good service from Nationwide, they've cut me a check next day on snow damage and the check covered the expense exactly, so I'm happy. I probably would save money if I switched, but....

samsd, Sorry to bring up this topic, but I want to say thank you for sharing the information, it helped me
Glad I could help, we get by with a little help from our friends.

Mcssls

I went from progressive to usaa dropped from 120 to 95. The. Switched to travelers with much higher coverages and lower deductibles and back to 120 but about $800 a year cheaper on the Acura. Then added another Acura and now the ranger is 80 a month.

I have Nationwide, and my Premiums went up significantly from the 16 Escape that I had.

I think I pay about $80-$100 a month with a $2500 deductible.

I view car insurance like house insurance, I'm not using it unless I run into catastrophic damage.

I deal with people all the time who "need a police report for my insurance" in single vehicle accidents, like a busted headlight, a scratch that shows up when parked at a store, or dent in bumper from backing into a light pole for example. I'm talking damage sub $500-$1,000.

How some grown-ass adults are completely oblivious to the fact reporting the damage and using your $500 deductible on $500 in damage just screws them long term. A fool and their money as they say...

Insurance companies are so scrupulous some will even raise your rate if you are in multiple NON AT FAULT accidents. A computer somewhere calculates you just have bad juju and are more prone to people hitting THEM and not there other way around.

I don't really have anything to compare the Ranger rate with because I kept my 2003 Mountaineer Premier with just comprehensive & liability, dropped collision coverage last year. I pay $446/year though on the 2021 Ranger for full coverage ($100 comprehensive deductible; $500 collision deductible). We have 3 vehicles with Erie Insurance, both drivers over 65 years old. Husband has 2015 GMC Sierra 4x4 which is $394/year full coverage.

I have been with USAA for many years, it would take an awful lot to get me to switch.

The '12 Frontier ran me $90/month, for the '21 Ranger it went up to $110/month. That's with $100 deductible, rental car reimbursement, and roadside assistance.

This. I pay about $1400 every six months for full coverage on the Ranger, the wife's CX-5, liability on my Jeep and a 15 year old driver in the household and my own "barely legal" driving status. I only keep my deductible @ $1k though. I figure I'd probably pay up to $2k out of pocket before making a claim on something. I'll have to check and see if Flo can work out a higher deductible.

Insurance is just legalized gambling where you're betting on yourself to lose. Fuck that. I'm a winner, not a loser. The house always wins!
Oh and get this, my wife's 10 year old Lexus SUV cost more per year to cover than my Ranger.

Like I get the older a vehicle gets, the more expensive replacement parts get, but we are not talking a vintage classic here.
Full coverage on hers as well? Why not drop it down to liability to save some dough?

What are you paying? For what coverage?
As irrelevant as it is, I'll share. :)

My Ranger costs me just under $500/yr for full coverage. $500 collision and $0 comprehensive. This all has to do with location, driving record, age, credit rating, etc...

I have no record, 750-800 rating, but I am only 40 so I'm not getting the boomer discount yet.

Guess I’m doing pretty good then! 500 deductible and $82 a month on a bran new truck. The 23 year old Ranger I just retired was $74 a month.

Funny story: My old Ranger was actually making me money. Mileage from work was 54 cents a mile. Over the years we figured I did something like 110K miles for company. So roughly 300 to 500 a month. In the last 4 years 2 minor accidents. Nether were my fault. Both times other drivers insurance totaled the truck and cut me a check for $1200. I repair damaged front quarter panel twice and a door once and keep going. The last accident come renewal my insurance says they can’t insure collision anymore because of the owner salvage title. So next accident no coverage. Ok then. It’s drive to you die time.

Just one more reason to get the ride I’m in now. Starting over again! ?
