That might be a SuperCrew feature only. It appears to be fixed in the SuperCab.

* runs out to cold garage to verify…..

Yep, it’s a fixed point in the SuperCab. ?

Looks like I could use a little 303 Protectant back there too. ;)
It sucks that we don't have that option, I could use another couple inchs of play.

I have a belt extension on my driver's side, had them for years in my police car, easier to get on and off in a hurry with bulky belt, but very handy in my Ranger. When I bought my truck they didn't make any other extensions for the remaining belts but aftermarket mfgs do now. As long as you only unhook the oem belt and leave the extension in place my driver's belt retracts super easy and hasn't flopped out the door.
Fawnbuster, I see two extensions available at seatbeltextenderpros.com -- one is a fixed 10-inch and the other is adjustable 9-26 inch. They're each about $20. I'm going to buy the adjustable one today. This is a great suggestion! Thanks.

You're welcome. Ford service dept usually have them in stock, we always got them for free from all 3 ford, Chevy and dodge but that might be a local thing. It was nice when all the belts buckles matched. Came in super handy belted a prisoner in, either a large person or just so we didnr have to look for the belt when securing them, less time for being bitten or spit on etc.

They started becoming handy when Chevy switched from the long rigid plastic covered seat belts to whats available now, the floppy ones , used to be able to jump in the car and snap in one handed and go but.not after they switched. I have 2 in my wife's Lincoln and only the drivers side in my Ranger, need to buy one.

Work trucks not beauty queens. Drivers using working clothes, dust and dirt sticks to seat belt. That also causes bad retraction.

Both my '07 and my current '19 have this problem. It's ability to retract is gone. Both only lasted about 2 years. :(
Check with your dealer on the seatbelts. Under certain NHTSA regulations, seatbelts may have a lifetime warranty. Depends on the companies policy, but I think Ford has a lifetime unless belts were abused or modified. If the ability to retract is not there, it usually means the mechanism is damaged/jammed and may not work in the event of a crash.

I bet its covered...if it doesn't retract, there's serious safety issues involved...meaning the crash pretensioner would not work either...

Part of your warranty includes a 5 year / 60,000 mile Safety Restraint Coverage which includes the seat belts and air bags. Make sure to bring that to your dealers attention.

I unlatch my belt and hand guide it as it retracts back to stowed position BEFORE I open the door(s)...worth the time it takes...all seat belts will bash your doors if you just unbuckle and exit with it wrapped around your body...just how it goes...I've seen even more careless people slam the door shut on the buckles!
This is the correct answer.
