I suppose backing in could reduce the temptation of some butthead stealing your tailights or ball mount.

And won't the bed drain from the front if angled down? Sure seems like mine does ...

#1 plug is on the front of the engine. What am I missing? How is it getting flooded?

No joke, just the gospel truth.

I may not park like Tracy, but I'll defend her right to park any way that she likes.
All this picking on @Tracy Bowman, so I decided to let go of my OCD-this-is-how-you-park rules.

Plus I think this parking strategy may lessen the water-in-the-plugs dilemma! =p

Soupie on a slant! And bonus, another Race Red Ford.

Always point the front towards your best escape route. Old habits dye hard.
Nose dowm if you expect to run from the wife, nose up if you're going to run from the husband*.

* ) Coz, his truck will block the driveway and then your escape is in reverse.

Be over in portsmouth in a couple of hours to steal half your ball mount. thanks for the directions. Also thank you for parking up it makes the catalytic converter easier to get to.

seriously though a hitch lock does nothing if I can remove 3 cotter pins and steal the ball mounts.

If I had to worry about how I park my vehicle on a incline/decline to worry about damage, I would think about getting a better vehicle.

Good luck because there's a massive anti-rattle clamp that makes it impossible to slide the ball part off the hitch.

The best approach is to bust the hitch lock with a pipe. The end is pretty chunky, so it'll have to be a bigger pipe than most need, but I'm sure a 2" steel pipe would break it off. It might take a few wiggles, but it's only 3/8" at the smallest point of the hitch pin.

It's unfortunate to think in those terms, but I do have a spare set of 3 stainless steel pins if someone does take them. I wouldn't want my balls to just be flapping around in the wind without them! =D

my driveway slopes down TOWARDS the house. I'll park it in either direction. I'll park front-down if I am loading/unloading anything from the back, since the slope of the driveway reduces the step up to the tailgate, so there's less of a step to get in/out.

though in wintertime it gets interesting when the driveway ices up or gets snowy. I'll put front-up because it seems like 4wd works a little better to crawl out.

backing my camper down the driveway and into the garage gets really interesting, too. I'm getting better, but it's a challenge when the trailer disappears from view for a bit.

Historically, parking brakes work better in preventing a vehicle for going forward than preventing it from going backward. I would park nose down if had to choose. Bed has drain holes near the front so keep them clean and no worries there.
That was true when we had drum brakes on the rear. Now it's disc brakes all around, even the parking brake.

Part of defensive driving 101:
Always back in:
A -You see the driveway no one or nothing to hit, so you back in.
B- When leaving, clear view , no one/nothing to hit.
I have seen many companies parking lots that require back in parking as to ease quick departure after work. And have seen some municipalities issue tickets for back in parking, mainly those with no front plates.

To do this correctly, TZ needs to first paint a line down the middle of drive and then straddle it...?
You mean like this?

Haha. Painted that on so it lines up with my back up camera. Makes backing in square easier without hitting all of my crap in the garage.

Re: parking in an sloped driveway, I always park nose down when not in the garage. Mostly so the door doesn't swing closed on my leg while I am getting out. Could car less about the box drainage.

Wow you have a tight spot...our garage is spacious but in order for both my wife and I park in consistently, I taped the floor as well and use my under body cameras to line up my tires while moving in and stop at a precise point...if you were to watch me drive into the garage, you'd be freaked out because I got my head down staring at the monitor and not out of the windshield lol...
