Those plugs look like they would hold moisture and debris around the lip since they'll be installed upside down.

If you install your own plugs and then the rockers (they are made of steel) end up having rust / rot issues... you may be out of luck from a warranty perspective.

I truly hate going to the dealer for such things.... but it seems the logical thing to do in this case, is to do just that.. take it to the dealer.

Dammit! Thanks for all the info-advice... Still cant believe they deliver us a $45k truck with this feature.

Our 30k version is built on that same line too.... ours has the plugs. Go figure ;-)

I have to hope that everything is primed and painted and the plugs are just window dressing. But, it's weak they take these cost saving measures, if that's what it is. Perhaps it was supply shortages with no cause for concern.... hopefully.

2021 FX4 - Holes with no plugs. I guess I'll find out what our Minnesota winters and road salt do over the next few years!

This thread pretty much confirms that 2021 models do not come with plugs in their holes.

Yeah. I'm thinking on the 6G I will not buy first year, but buy between June and Oct of year 2.

My 2020 has:
glovebox damper and light
rear headrest fold mechanism (with the mod)
Rocker panel plugs
And all the panels and gaps are nice and tight.

Guess it takes 16 months to work out the kinks and before the bean counters start cutting costs.

In regard to panels: the dies that stamp parts start to wear...

Oh, you forgot:
6 tie down vs 4....
& Seam sealer on the doors
