Living in Rural America I get much better reception (IE: less dropped calls etc) when my phone is on the dash vs. being in my pocket. Ford gave is a nice little pocket on the dash, however it is in full SUN to which my phone goes into melt down. So my plan is to 3d print I nice little easy to use pocket. Add a wireless charger and be done. Unless of course there is something out there already?

I drew this up... and will print it this weekend. It's a 20+ hour print.

No I didn't get my influence from a Subaru... or a Pizza oven, it just sort of happened that way. I added a notch so 2 phones will fit and 30mm of head space to GRAB it.

NOT THE ACTUAL COLOR. This is FreeCAD.

Maybe one side should have a 52mm hole for a boost gauge. (I don't need 2 cell phone holders).

I may consider paying you if you can print up just a straight up cover that makes it flush with the rest of the dash.

I don't use it as I find it useless; Anything I put up there just reflects into the windshield anyway.

Either way; watching. I do love 3D printed stuff.

This is just a hobby for me. I'm no expert by any stretch. I was going to do it black... and just waiting for another spool of PTEG (tomorrow). I tried to 3d scan the tray, no luck in that. So I just used a piece of wire to contour the bottom shape of the tray, that worked well. The upper trim covers the original tray and it is symmetrical so it looks correct. Anyway we'll see how it turns out.

Polarized sunglasses help with anything reflecting off the windshield. I actually throw little knick knacks up there so I don't forget them when I'm getting out. I'd rather have the tray and not use it very often than just an empty dash of leather-looking plastic.

I had a car with a dash tray much like ours but it had a flip-up cover that was flush with the dash. I found it to be super handy. Can’t recall which car - either an early 2000s Lexus or BMW.

Dave, maybe you can hone your printing skills to “next level” status and produce one - possibly with a small damper too.

How does this mount? I did not see details on site. Thanks.
You remove the trim with the air vent next to the radio. It gets mounted to the radio with one of the radio screws. You can mount it on either side. I put mine on the passenger side Easy install and works good. The magnet for your phone case is pretty strong.

Our 2017 Jeep Cherokee has a flip-up cover with damping action. Perhaps that would be a model?
And the dash cubby on the 2014+ Cherokee is a little deeper which makes it more useful. I do miss my 2016 Cherokee at times. But I needed a truck more and the dealer gave me a good trade in value when I bought my 2020 Ranger XLT FX4 in March of 2021.

I'd pay extra for a damper... if it's a deezee.
