I want to install a USB port in the tray on top of the dash.
Has anyone safely removed the tray without damage?
Or maybe removed the panel where the optional dash speaker would go?
I would like to see what's under there so I could drill the hole and route the 12V wiring.

I think “good” answers are going to be pretty scarce on this. In lieu of a good answer, I look for clues that will get me close. This F-150 tray just pops in. Grab your screwdriver

Thanks...
I'm sure that it does just pop up but I would hate to be wrong.
The PDF manual shows that the center panel for the B&O speaker does just pop up. so maybe I can get a peek that way.

Worked up the courage and removed the tray on the Dash.
It does simply pry up!
CAUTION! the two blue fasteners are attached firmly to a flimsy part of the dash.
Care must be taken when prying them up.
Gently pry the edges up then lift the front enough to view the center fastners.
Place a long screwdriver between the fastener and the point of attachment then gently pry until they pop loose one at a time.
Mine came out perfectly without harm.
I plan to install a double USB outlet in the right rear corner.

I pried it up with a knife, then used the trim tool to slip in under the clips and pop them out. it came out and went back in like butter.

Well it worked... I think Ford should have put a USB in the tray but they didn't... So I did.
Can anyone else see the pics ?? I can't.

I can not either. Almost looks like they were "pasted" into the comment, which does NOT work. Need to go to "upload a file" and do it that way. I learned this the hard way :)

Floyd,
Did you try to "paste" the pictures into the note> If so, that does not work. You need to select "upload a file" at the bottom, then select the file.

I got the USB units from EBay ( I bought a two pack with the bezels because I wasn't sure where I might use them. There are lots of them with varying power outputs on EBay)
I cut a piece of 1/8th" hard plastic to fit the tray to stick my GPS mount to.
After several tries I was able to fish the power supply wires down the right side of the opening
( corner toward the rear of truck) and along the left side of the glove box to be attached to the 12V power point in the lower dash.

Here is the seller I bought from , but there are more choices with good pictures on EBay.
