high revs on gentle take off

Hi, i just purchase a used 2020 ranger xlt 4x4 with 60k miles. is it wierd that from a stop it revs up to 2-3k rpm before rolling? is that just how all the rnagers are? im pretty gentle on the gas pedal and i always have auto start stop turned off. thanks

Always in D mode. also is it normal for it to shift straight to 3rd gear from first everytime on take off. it revs up to 2-3k then shifts straight o third. happens everytime. drives and shift super smooth everywhere else

Make sure it is actually revving, as when you first start out in the morning the fan sounds like a jet engine for a few seconds. Then quiets down. First time hearing it can be quite disconcerting. But it is loud and sounds a lot like it is revving.

Ok, maybe not as bad as you first described then...if it's not moving until 2-3K then you have problems...if you're saying it shifts at 2-3K, that's normal...

There's a huge difference between revving to almost 3,000 and staying stone dead stopped and revving to 3,000 while the vehicle is moving before shifting.

It's certainly normal for the engine to rev to 3k before shifting to 3rd from a stop.

It's certainly abnormal for the vehicle to rev to 3k and not move.

My first thought as well. Mine will do this on occasion and it’s the fan.

Maybe im over thinking it. It definitely moves as soon as i touch the pedal i just felt the movement was disproportionate to the revs
