Pls no jabs....
Got my first truck Ford Ranger 2019. I am afraid I messing up my transmission. The engine revs real high. I think I have it in sport mode? The numbers go up to 10. I keep playing with the plus or minus hoping I can feel it back to the right place. I just moved to TN. I was in FL. Is there a way to do a reset or something and fix it? What number should it be on?

Just make sure the shifter is in drive (D) and you're fine. Sport mode is when the shifter is pulled all the way back to (S). The numbers you're seeing is the gear it's currently in. It's a 10 speed transmission and the current gear will be highlighted. I wouldn't mess with +/- until you have a better understanding of how the transmission works.

If you do put it in S mode you can do one of two things.

1...Just drop it in S and let the tranny automatically shift for you. It will hold the gears longer than in D mode and will rev a little higher. Don't touch the +/-.

2....In S mode if you push the + button on the side you now have to manually shift every gear using the + button through all 10 gears. Just hit the - and it'll downshift for you.

Thanks folks. I guess I didn't realize I was even in S this whole time. D is probably my best bet. Appreciate the help.
Once you get use to your truck in D play around with S mode, it's a lot more fun. Just be aware of the side +/- buttons as they're easy to hit.

I remember when I first got mine and I accidentally hit mine. I was turning onto an on ramp in 2nd gear and it was revving up towards 5,000 and thinking it should shift by now. lol

My truck was maybe 2 weeks old and I had it in sport mode shifting manually (just learning the transmission) and forgot all about it when I finally had to stop at an intersection. When I pulled away I hit 6 grand before I realized what I'd done...I was so disgusted with myself for thrashing my new truck lol. Luckily it was at least fully warmed up.

Lol I felt the same way. At first I was like wtf I thought this was supposed to shift by itself then I realized I was the dummy who hit the side buttons. :headbang:
