Unfortunate for you to leave the Ranger. Hopefully that Tesla doesnt treat you too badly since by the contract sogned you never truly own a Tesla.... It owns you.... Yeah technically you can be sued by the company if you try to modify it..... Unfortunate but true....

Why do almost all the EVs look the way they do? I appreciate the tech but what’s up with their design teams. It’s like EV companies are trying to NOT win any awards.

Eh, I didn't "need" the truck. With gas prices at $6 a gallon locally and below 14 MPG I couldn't justify keeping it. I don't "need" the Tesla either. Either one is a lifestyle/luxury purchase and I don't kid myself otherwise.
Holy cow...below 14 MPG???
I can't imagine how you accomplished that but with that said I can see why you'd want do go a different direction.
I hope you can enjoy your new ride.
Best wishes to ya!

14 sounds very low. i have to ask if your rig was stock? my 19 FX4 averaged around 20 when stock, averaged 18.5 after the rack and 17.5 after bigger tires. my commute is 20 miles each way and 75% is highway speeds at 70-80. been 17.5 for about a year now. there had to be something wrong with the truck.

Agreed, I don’t why they have to be so sterile looking on the inside. I sat in a Tesla a while back and I felt like I was in the dentists chair. I guess EV designers assume their buyers want futuristic design.

under 14 mpg good grief ! something must have been wrong with that truck. I keep mine loaded with all sorts of stuff. id bet about 1000 pounds of gear and my own flabby aft. thats just a normal day. If im going camping or fishing etc. i have even more lol. i have heavier tires and spend as much time as possible off cement going slow in lower gears. I get 21.5 unless i spend the day only on the interstate, then it climbs up to 22 and change. If i got 14 or less id be ditching the truck as well. It is sad it didnt work out for you to keep it, trucks are fun.

 i just had a thought... stay with me as it is rare for me lol. tin foil hat may be needed-
i wonder if some area or states etc. are using different blends of fuel in order to reduce fuel efficiency aka hurt mpg - in order to feed the political EV push ... is that even possible? I know it sounds a lil crazy but in 2022 the line for crazy has been moved so much farther out of view than I have ever witnessed. my logic is not perfectly sound, but if states that are leaning a certain political direction they are likely far more supportive of the EV push- that is a given. ok so i would not put it past any political figure or organizer etc. to scam or hamstring folks. a hella lot of money and contracts plus influence and control are on the table for the EV plan. different blends of fuel do exist. winter vs. summer for example. also not too outlandish to think the blends could be altered or watered down after delivery to the station tanks. fuel quality has a lot to do with performance and efficiency. idk just thinking. seems like some of the folks ive talked with getting the lower mpg numbers are in states of a certain lean.

this is not a hard proof suggestion, but stop babying it. slap her ass and give it too her. the 2.3 eb was designed to be rev happy and utilize the turbo in its power band. get it up in the higher gears quicker, and let the engine break in. you may see the numbers go up in the mpg calculation. my mpg went up after i stopped treating the truck like it was my new baby i had to spoon feed.

I get the draw towards electric, even if I'm not ready to jump just yet.

But tell me you at least got the dual motor performance.

The biggest draw of electric is the acceleration and instant torque. Going with the slow one is sacrilegious.

you sound well prepared for the inevitable - EV ownership. Don't worry though as I suspect there are many to be found on here with similar repressed aspirations but they struggle on how to come out of the closet. :sunglasses:
No, mine was actually done like that so I can run my generator into my feed if needed. Have a auto cutoff at main breaker if it gets fed that way. Ya, I suppose I could charge EV’s but that was done so long ago that EV wasn’t even on Popular Mechanics discussions ?
