Getting vehicle serviced

I used to go to Jiffy Lube, but the last time I went they F'd up the wheel well liner so that turning would rub the tire tread (sounded like front hub was coming off). Took it to the local shop that fixed that screw up and the next time for service. I have and kept on using them as they are really good on just 'plain ol service' and really great on diagnostics. Run with 100% synthetic since I bought the truck.

That's a perfectly good reason. The new receptionist at my chiropractor is a motivation for a healthy spine. You should see her walk! Been seeing her a lot lately since I wrenched my back. Also, did I mention my cataract surgeon is hot? I gave her a hug yesterday on my one week follow up.

Personally, I avoid dealers like the plague and do all my own maintenance work. The only time I take my vehicles to a shop or dealership is when there’s a problem that I don’t have the time, tools, or knowledge to handle myself. I’m selective about where I take my trucks for service. We have a family friend that’s been working on all of my dad’s fleet trucks for 15+ years. He’s the first one I’ll call. If it’s something he can’t handle, he’ll refer me to another shop that’s reputable.

I’ve had a few bad experiences with dealerships over the years, so that’s always a last resort for me. Other than warranty work that I’m not paying for, I pretty much refuse to go through a dealership for anything.

This all day if you are physically able to. Every time I change someone’s oil that was done at a quick lube place or we get a used vehicle, the first drain takes 30 min. All subsequent changes drain in 2 or 3 tops. Just says something about the mystery barrel of crude they pump in there.

Otherwise do what my father in law does. Buys me a cheeseburger and hangs out in the garage while I do his oil change and then some. Trusted family members are much more reliable than Cletus at the local pump and dump.

On that note, I should also mention my dental hygienist is also hot. On one visit she briefly mentioned that my next 6 month visit was on her birthday. I never tried so hard to remember a birthday. I even put it on my Google calendar. The few days before, I was scrambling to find something special to do.
My neighbor had a flower garden that I robbed, and my coworker had flowers in his yard that I asked for a donation. He was happy to give.
So with my absconded neighbor's flowers, and the donation from my coworker, I surprised the hell out of my hygienist to the point she asked me for a hug. It was glorious. Now it's a thing every time I get a cleaning. She's the best hygienist ever.

I'm a relatively new owner of a 2022 Ranger XLT. I noticed that the oil "life " is at 25%. This got me wondering: to get regular service and maintenance, do you go to the dealer or an independent shop?

The shop I've been using has alwa+ys done a good job for me. (I think my power train warranty is still valid- approx 33000 miles.) But all the other stuff is covered by an aftermarket warranty. Of course warranty work is different than routine maintenence.

I had used a Valvoline oil change for a truck I used to have. They were extremely professional. The techs were so well in tune with each other, it was neat just to observe. I bought a new car, and started using the dealer because they offered free oil changes for a period as part of the purchase. After they expired, I went back to Valvoline, but they had changed ownership and weren't as good. I went back to using the dealer, and do that with both vehicles we own.
