I honestly don't think many know how to drive a turbo. This was my first one and it's a learning curve from a regular one stepping on the skinny pedal. If you ease into the gas instead of mashing it you'll get way better mileage. Granted it's not as fun but you can't have both it's either Eco or Boost.

Every time Annie drives my Ranger I get the worst mpg ever. I'll average 22.5 and when she's driving it it'll be in the high teens. ?‍♂ But in her defense she doesn't drive it enough to get use to it but when she does she smiles and says "boy this really goes fast". lol
I believe you are right. This is our 5th turbo vehicle in our house. I only had one non turbo truck. It was a 4.6. Those make a lot of noise but are slow. Not really fun.

I still floor it more than I should but when on long drives I always use cruise control. Hence better mpgs. Next mod will be a boost gauge. All turbo engines should come with them so you can maximize mpgs

In my OP I didn't mean to sound like people don't know how to drive but driving a turbo is kind of different. My '19 was my first one and when you're so used to stepping on the gas harder from driving a regular ICE engine it is very different and there's a learning curve. The only way you use to be able to get them to make noise was by flipping the air cleaner upside down so you could hear the 4bbl carbs grumbling. ?

It's funny because I don't "floor it" as much as I did with my '19 which had a Livernois tune. Not that this truck isn't fun stock but it was REALLY fun tuned!?

On my 2020 FX2, I was averaging 22-23 combined in the stock configuration. After the lift and tires (33x10.50r17), I’m averaging 20 combined, but 17-18 city average.

MPG took a hit for sure, but the truck looks night and day better compared the stock front rake and small passenger car tires. Looks like a “truck” now and as a result, gets “truck” MPG. Gotta pay to play I guess.
