As a retired technician and service advisor, I can tell you that most drivers in America don't know how to open the hood, much less check the oil and coolant levels properly.
There's a strong suspicion that the HPDI fuel pump is the culprit, but unfortunately we need a dealer to find it, fix it, and have it documented with Ford before any major action is taken. It also doesn't seem like a coincidence that there are at least 3 of us with the issue whose trucks were April builds...
Honestly, I wouldn't let it bother you. Just check your oil on a regular basis for level and smell (as you should with any vehicle, ha) and enjoy driving your new truck. Odds are that you will not have this issue, but time will tell. I'm still enjoying mine, just being cautious of when the oil gets diluted. It's a fantastic vehicle otherwise, so I'm not going to let this bother me. I'm sure I'll get it resolved with Ford within the next few months!
I'm glad to hear that you guys are getting a better response from your dealers. Mine is no help. I've been too busy to really keep digging into the issue for now. I've been changing the oil ever 1500 miles though to hopefully prevent long term damage. I love this truck, it's just unfortunate that we got a bad batch made in April...
So after reading this entire thread I just checked the oil level on mine (changed after a little over 3k miles) im at 5k miles now and a cold check of the dipstick showed it over full and it does indeed smell like fuel! Im glad I checked this because I had planned on doing a 10k intveral with the amsoil XL series oil I am running. My build date is July 2019 on my truck though. Also I work at a dealership so I will definitely be getting this looked at soon as possible and I will let you know if they find anything.
Get it in to the dealer and have them check it out and document it. They'll likely change the oil and tell you to keep an eye on it before they start replacing parts, but the more of us that bring this in as a concern, the faster Ford will recognize the issue and find a fix. At least that's the hope anyways...
