Last night, I was installing the Eibach struts and upon disassembly, I discovered this:

I did not reinstall them on the new struts. I only reused the strut cap and bumper. Do I need these ?

Ford calls them strut bearings, but they arent. I believe they are just dust covers to keep the piston rods clean. So far, I havent noticed any issues without them. If needed, I'll get new ones. It only took me an hour per side to do, so meh...

Yea I just watched a couple Fox 2.0 suspension installs and those are there so I was wrong, they're not shipping pucks. VW's have them and they look just like that. And VW service depts are known for forgetting to remove them lol.

I saw that in the Ford parts diagram and it didn’t make sense. ? They are called “strut bellows” in other places and they act as protective covers for the shiny bits. I‘ve also read they help keep the shock from bottoming out - not sure how effective they would be at that but you never know maybe it helps.?‍♂

I have done a few ford struts on trucks and only reuse the bump stop. Your probably fine but what do I know.
