so while getting my front lift/level springs installed we found this hanging from a bolt for the front air dam close to the skid plate. 1/4”… top bad. I was hoping to gain back one of the world’s many missing 10mm sockets.

Better than finding a tool inside your body post surgery...it happens...

Had a 99 f159 I replaced the fuel pump on. Sure enough on a trip home from my parents, the fuel pump went out on the side of the highway. State police pulled up and got me a wrecker. Being the middle of winter and about 150 miles from home, I had the shop that towed it fix it.
They had it done in a day and I drove up and got it. I replaced all the factry bed bolts with great big lag bolts nuts and washers. Mechanic said that made changing the pump a snap. Charged me like $400.00 to tow it and fix it.
Anyway, that summer I was under the truck doing something and found a rusty snap on 1/4 driver, extension and socket in the frame rail. Really not sure where it came from as there was nothing that small in taking the bed off. Don’t think the pump had anything that small as well.

Had a fuel pump fail on a prior vehicle right after I moved to a new town. Being new to the town and not knowing any of the shops, I had it towed to a shop I had seen pretty close to our house. Shop turned out to be a pain to work with and the quote for the fuel pump replacement as relayed to me over the phone was absurd*, so I had it towed to my driveway where I replaced the pump myself. Discovered that whoever had done the diagnosis in the shop had left the fuel pressure monitor hose attached to the fuel line, though they took the gauge off.

*Once I got the written quote, I saw that the fuel pump replacement itself was 50% more expensive than the other shops I contacted after getting the diagnosis, but what really brought up total quote was that it also included replacing the serp belt (which was still fine) and the battery (which lasted another 2 years) despite me telling them I wasn't interested in them doing any work besides the fuel pump.

We had a new F150 come into the dealership in the mid 90's - was still the square body. Customer didn't buy from us, but had a maddening rattle noise over bumps and washboard. Other shops couldn't figure it out. Truck on hoist and tapping on stuff with a rubber mallet - found a bad rattle INSIDE the drivers side frame, right at the front under the driver. We cut a small window on the inside and used a magnet tool to pull out a 1/2" wrench with a tag on it " HA HA - YOU FOUND ME "
Someone wasn't having a good day on the assembly line :explode:

Couldn't be hard to determine who did that. Wonder if he lost his job.

My thought was that he marked ALL of his tools that way, just in case that sort of thing happened.

My dad had a new 1965 Chevy Belair. We were living in California and I’m crawling all over it ‘cause, you know, it’s NEW and I found a half empty, half pint bottle of whiskey under the dash. Had the Michigan liqueur seal on it.

When I got my Ranger the dealer had to search for the specific specs I wanted and found it in Iowa... I think the took a short cut through some corn fields from Iowa to Minneapolis as it came with some corn in the suspension...

For those that know what a Ford Wrench is - I guess the line person wanted to include a modern version of it.
Ford Wrenches are still used in aviation and are known by that name, no matter who manufactured it.

Years ago in the late ‘70s my cousin‘s parents bought a new Ford Galaxie 500 xl. Very nice luxurious model with a strange rattle in the right rear. After several trips to the dealer they finally cut open the right rear wheel housing in the trunk and found someone’s lunchbox with an empty Coke bottle in it. ?
