David all the links to what I bought are in the link below. I bought the Ford maintainer (used my Ford points) but it's the same Ctek just rebranded for Ford.

Awesome and I have studied your post (and great pics). I may have missed it but what do you think of the CTEK connector with the general indicator lights on it:

They way I have my charger setup you can see the lights on the front easy enough. Once you get use to it I can open my garage door from the house, look at it in the dark and can tell exactly how much it's charged by the lights on the charger. Mine will be fully charged overnight when plugging it in around dinner time. The display one these are really good so personally I'd get the non indicator one. It's also one less think that could break.

Great advice and congratulations! You've just made another commission! =D

Seriously though, this is perfect. I've been getting the Ford App "ni ni" message quite a bit this week and I've been shuffling cars more than normal. I'm sure this will be the ideal solution.

I do have an epic-may-need-an-auxiliary-tank dump run at lunch time, and if I don't shut off the truck while I'm unloading, it might be on for 10 or 12 minutes! Woohoo!

And is it true that sport mode bypasses the BMS? Of course, that'll double the gas consumption ...

CTEK MXS 5.0
non-indicator comfort connect
8.2 foot comfort connect extension cable
and, of course, the matching silicone bumper!

Side note - I prefer to order direct from the manufacturers (it sure made my tonneau cover easy to resolve) but, in this case, CTEK's prices are much higher! The MXS 5.0 is $118.71 on their site but only $79.06 on Amazon, well, I wouldn't want Jeff Bozos to have an income-security concerns ...

Thanks everyone and I hear that @AzScorpion's gonna have us out for a yacht party soon from all the damper and mod sales on the forum! =p

Update: Ended up ordering 3 extensions. I believe @AzScorpion used one under the hood to be able to fish it out as he wanted (I suppose I could just splice additional wire into the connector, but ...) and then 2 to reach out of the garage in the winter time with the garage door closed (not all of us that that sweet damper money for bigger garages). =D

Thanks again, this will be a really nice "mod".

While you're on another buying spree you might want to add one of these to your order. You can lay it in the dash tray, it's a good reminder your truck is hooked up to the maintainer and you don't drive off with it connected.

Gonna add a coated magnet to that thing so I can stick it on the door! Thanks!

Glynn, I hard wired mine to the battery and ran a longer lead down and out through the front tow hook. This way it's easy to quick connect it without always having to open the hood to attach it.

I bought this one here with my FordPass points but you can by the same one on Amazon cheaper here. This is the longer lead if you decide to go that route.

Just remember to ground it to the body and not to the negative on the battery. This is where I grounded mine.

I ran the longer lead across the front and dropped it down to the tow hook. When you're not using it you can tuck it up inside the rubber boot on the tow hook. If you need any other pictures let me know and I can get some tomorrow when it's lighter outside.

See the red lead and wire? It's above (or to the rear of) the battery post itself.

It should be rotated counter clockwise, right now the red cover binds over it a bit:

And don't forget the best (most fun) part of it all.

The magnet I use is strong enough to firmly catch the metal in the steering heel. It'll also connect outside on the plastic trim behind the driver's window.

Thanks @AzScorpion for this fantastic mod. =)

Sorry for not seeing this until now Glynn. I had a bunch of notifications while I was away and I guess I must of forgot to come back to this one. Looks like David already helped you out with his picture below. This makes it so much easier to quick connect and the lanyard can be a savior if you forget that you're connected and pull away.

The "extra" leads I got means I leave the CTEK plugged in all the time in the garage and leave the extension cables on a bush branch next to the garage door. I don't have to open the garage, I just need to be within 10 feet of the door and pull out the plug from the bumper and voila!

Also, I think SuperCrews could also stick a magnet where I have it in this pic. I wasn't sure if mine has wider trim for the wider door or not ...

Perfect picture. That is exactly what I did after y'all helped with the pictures. Counted Seven bolts attached here and wanted the right way. Thanks to Subquark and AZ

Awesome! I hope it helps you as much as I'm hoping it does for me.

I shuffle the Ranger in and out of the driveway about twice a day (so out, then back in, then out and in again, in one day).

I don't do that all the time but for now until the end of fall I will, thanks to the acorn barrage from our humongous red oak (we had no acorns last year, so this will be a bumper crop - one year I filled 11 lawn bags with acorns ...).

Then in winter, it'll be shuttled back and forth, so the CTEK will get lots of use. And I hope it extends the battery's life.

I just bought another CTEK to install on my daughter's FJ-40, at her house, while it sits around waiting to be restored.
