I'm mostly a lurker here, but have been reading everything I can posted about the ProCal performance tune. I finally broke down and ordered one from American Trucks on a Black Friday price (more on AT below).

Everything arrived a week or so later and the fun began... I bought a cheap windows laptop, did all the registration, watched videos again and then gave it a go. Much to my dissapointment, I kept getting an "Unsupported Vehicle" error. Having read about things like this happening to others, I called tech support at Ford and they were terrific, but couldn't resolve the issue either. We double checked that my code was for a 2021 Ranger, it was. Since we couldn't get my ProCal to update, they suggested taking it to a dealer.

A could more hours and $253 later it turns out American Trucks sent me the wrong Procal device. When I reached out to them, they offered me $100 store credit and to send me a replacement part after they had my current one back... laughable. I went on their website and read the reviews, it seems this is a pretty common theme in their reviews. I am sending the unit back for a refund and ordered a replacement from Stage 3.

When I spoke to Stage 3 and told them what happened, they laughed and said, "yep, you're not the first. We get a lot of business from those guys." The guy at Stage 3 was really thorough and helpful. The new Procal should arrive in a week and, this time, I should have no problem installing it myself.

I'll be sure to report back on my impressions. Can't wait to finally see how this improves my Ranger!

Crappy experience, for sure. I’m surprised at the lengthy delivery timeline for the new unit. Is that pretty much the case for most things where you are?

I avoid AT now. Similar experiences with them and my brother has had worse. I did the FPP tune and love it. Kicked myself for waiting. I have tuned non-turbo vehicles in the past and the gains were nice. Turbo gains are great. The difference in the shift schedule is what I like best. No more reaching for Sport mode to pass a slow car or get out in traffic.

Should've gone with unleashed!
I was tempted but thought this would give me performance gains at minimal risk.

Will definitely never order from them again.

The gains you’re talking about are exactly what I’m after. I drive a lot of rental cars with work travel and recently drove a tacoma. The only thing I liked better than my Ranger was the shifting.

How does the tune impact power in Sport mode?

It makes a difference. I hardly use Sport Mode anymore, power and shifting gains made it unnecessary. +45 HP and 60 torque are noticeable though.

AT wrote back today, in light of my request for a refund, they doubled their offer. Of course, double of a bad deal is still not a good deal, lol...

I can't wait for the Procal to arrive. I appreciate the input from the rest of you. Seems like this will be a really terrific upgrade.

I love mine too. Only problem I ran into when installing mine(did it myself, potentially voiding new vehicle warranty 🤦‍♂️ ), it was something like I had to register it on the Ford Performance website before you do with the ProCal tool. I think I input information with ProCal before online on the website & it lead to system saying the code that came with the kit was already in-use or something like that. As mentioned, Ford Performance tech line was very helpful & they helped me out through the issue.

@OahuRanger Just curious... why did you NOT buy it from Ford?? I'm assuming price (I did not realize you could get from anyone but Ford.. who knew!!). I got mine from Ford when I bought the Ranger and the dealer installed it.

It was price. I think my local dealer was charging full retail. Stage 3 and some others were about $300-$400 cheaper.

I got mine from Stage 3 as well. It was less than the cost Ford Dealer paid.
