Hello, I have my truck in the dealer now to fix my Ford Pass Connect. In the Ranger itself, every time I try to turn on the connectivity settings, it fails. I have almost no faith in my Ford dealership to fix this. Assuming they can't, are there any other options to remote start my truck?

I found this key fob that looks like it would work. Does anyone have experience buying a key fob like this with the remote start button on it? Can I program this new key for it to work?

What fob do you have now? My 2019 Lariat FX-4 has remote start on the fob but I think mine has the 502 Tech package.

My fob is the one without the remote start on the fob.

Some cursory reading makes it seem like you can't just add the fob with remote start. Something about the frequency used on remote start vs. non-remote start fobs. I would love to see this happen.

As for the app, there is a TSB out for the APIM replacement. That's most likely your culprit.

My Ford pass was working fine until I turn in my truck for the 24B47 service. Dealership can't seem to figure out the reason. Been going back and forth for about 4 months now for this issue. Only yesterday got a call from the dealership and they want to work on my truck (I suspect that they are replacing the AIPM). So my truck will be in this Friday and hopefully I can get Fordpass to work again......

Mine did this - I had to unplug the wifi router and plug it back in after 2 mins. its behind the glovebox.
Fixed mine after fucking with everything else for 2 days.
Just disconnect the router wire harness, wait 2 mins, then plug it back in

Just this week I started seeing strange things with FordPass and my phone connection to the radio and phone, one morning a week ago I tried to start it with ford pass and it did nothing, same thing for a few days then I was thinking maybe something needed to be woke up and I unlocked the doors with the FOB and sun of a gun ford pass was able to start the truck so that's what I have been doing now every morning, hit the key fob then go to FordPass, not sure what it is, but found a work around that works for me :(
probably a failing F***ING battery....

What you actually did was reset the TCU (Telemetric Control Unit) it a combination Cell modem and WIFI router. The servers at Ford actually communicate with your truck using a ATT cell connection for Fordpass. The WIFI portion is only used if you have the trucks Hot Spot enabled which requires a separate ATT cell account.

There is a fuse that can be pulled to do the same thing, without pulling the harness apart. I don't remember the number, but sure someone can give the number. I've never had to do this.

What they may need to do is either reset or replace the TCU (Telemetric Control Unit) it is what the truck uses to communicate with Ford for Fordpass.

The biggest problem with the new vehicles these days is the technician needs to have an EE or computer tech degree to troubleshoot them. Must of them, if they can't plug in and have their tester give them a code to tell them what to do, they are lost. Leads to the "parts cannon" syndrome.

Cool - FYI I didnt have to pull the harness apart, just unplug it from the TCU. Took all of 2 mins. Pulling the fuse works too though for sure. I was already in there changing the air filter.

I had to do it because in my radio settings, under "Modem serial number" it was blank. When I reset it, i ad a serial number and was able to use the app

Pulling a fuse is usually safer than pulling connectors apart. Less chance of damage to pins. Especially since there are other connections than power in the connector.

I tried that method earlier also. Removed the fuse to the TCU for even 30 mins with no avail. My modem serial number is blank and there is no option for Connectivity on the Menu after they did the update. Funny that the deaership said that this was not an isolated case as they have serval trucks with the same symptoms as mine after the 24B47 update. My truck is schedule for tomorow. This work is under warranty so hopefully this will get resolved......

A part of the TSB - Steps is - Clearing User Data and then - Perform a PMI, now at this point if the (Tech) hits the wrong (Button - Should be hitting (NO) and if they hit (Yes) instead may be generating this issue and wiping out that the truck has a TCU and all of its features.

So a PMI - is where the tool downloads the As-Built data from the APIM and stores it on the tool, then reloads that file back onto the APIM.
another option in FDRS is (Configuration) this downloads the data from the servers and then loads the the data on the APIM.

I think what is happening - it that this process is confusing to the tech - and they are hitting (YES) instead of (NO) when prompted in the TSB. This is the cause of the APIM issues when they are done.

To confirm my theory - Find and Download (view) your As-Built data from Ford, then with Forescan view the same data (APIM) & (TCU) and identify the mismatching data lines. I believe something is being changed here and it's not being caught by the Tech and its coming from the Step in that TSB for the PMI.

Another step that is possibly creating the issue is - Clear User Data, so this is supposed to hold the important (data) but I think this is wiping out the (Authorization) & (Activation) side of the TCU.
This allows (2-way) communication for the Ford Pass & Hotspot.
Basically, the same as making the (Module) - (Router) - Enable the WI-FI network to be discoverable (this would be the ESN being displayed) - (IF I AM CORRECT)

I use Start-X and I've been very happy with it for 2 years now.

However, it is line of sight and only good for a few hundred feet.
