  • If you have an iPhone go to Settings>Apps>FordPass. Under Location, check that it is not set to Never.
  • Background app refresh and cellular data should both be set to On for best results.

Android phones should have similar settings
My iPhone has all the same settings you've noted, and also noted above in some other replies. It finally connected to my Ranger - maybe 30 minutes after I opened the app. But now that I was ready to post this, I looked at the app and there's a notice that services are "Temporarily Unavailable. We are having system problems."

It finally connected to my Ranger - maybe 30 minutes after I opened the app. But now that I was ready to post this, I looked at the app and there's a notice that services are "Temporarily Unavailable. We are having system problems."
Must be a local/regional problem . Mine is working normally?

Make sure you're on the newest Sync update 3.4.23188. The old one (3.4.22251) was corrupted and had several issues one being the location doesn't update. You have to update this one with a USB drive as OTA doesn't work. Before the update mine was still showing me parked in AZ 2 months after living here in AR. Now it updates almost instantly.
OK, I did this and indeed it had the 3.4.22251 version and would not update via OTA. I did the USB stick procedure and updated the vehicle to 3.4.23188.

Still no joy.

I uninstalled and reinstalled Ford Pass and it didn't help.

What happens is that I see the small location icon show up at the top of the phone screen, but nothing within the app. I then tried my wife's Samsung phone, and the location works on Fordpass!

I checked her phone setting-by-setting and they are the same for location, etc.

My phone is a Moto Z4. This is weird. I don't know if there is something unique to the Moto that is causing this. Her phone is newer than mine, maybe an Android version difference?

I have checked both phones again and again and location works on her phone and not on mine.

I have an iPhone and it all updated instantly once the new version was in place. At least you were able to get it updated and it does sound like a setting or something in the Moto Z4. You could try calling the Ford In Vehicle Dept 800-392-3673 as see if they can figure it out. They're the ones who helped me get mine all squared away and were very helpful.

I am using a Samsung Galaxy Note 9 and location is still not working.

I just got a new Samsung S24 FE and the location map now shows on Ford Pass. I had to get a new phone for my wireless Android Auto to work, the old Moto was stuck on Android 10 and the wireless dongle requires Andoid 11. I wanted another Samsung similar to the wife's phone since the AA Wireless worked on hers as well as the vehicle location on FordPass.

Nope - all good here - other than the fact it keeps showing my truck parked at my neighbors house - maybe it is because I park close to our property line.
