Not trying to sell anything here. I had 3 Tacoma's in past and recently sold my Tacoma anticipating a deposit down in July 2020 for a 2021 Ranger, buy only if the v6 will be an option.

Why do you folks here get all up in arms if the word Tacoma is used here. After-all, Tacoma is the best selling small pup, and did not leave production for a few years and then come back.
Not nearly as bad as posting Ranger stuff at TacomaWorld Forum. McDonald's sells a lot of hamburgers too That doesn't mean they're the best.

There is a thread here for former Tacoma owners.I started it and I got no blowback.
I owned 1992, 2008, 2015 and 2016.. No one cares if you use the word Tacoma here. There are few of us that came from Toyotas. None want to go back. And yes it is because Tacoma is an inferior vehicle to the Ford Ranger at this point in time on many metrics. Reliability and resale is great IF you enjoy mediocracy, I would rather a truck with normal resale and enjoy the truck more.

I bought the 2106 Tacoma in the dark (assuming reliability and resale) and never have I heard "that all do it" from Toyota until the 2016. had Too many issues (some ongoing) for a mediocre truck that sells because of ,,,Hmmm reliability??? Resale means nothing if the engine is weak and the transmission is constantly shifting looking for a place to be. If I wanted a 'ten-year truck" I would buy the second-gen.

One test drive on the Ranger made all the difference. Tacoma is gutless with poor Fuel economy and Toyota dealer shops that claim "they all do it" No they don't.. Ranger was an easy choice going forward. I won't look at Tacoma again until both the Ranger and the Taco come out with redesigns.

Uhmm, I was just noting my experience checking out some Lincoln vehicles, which are supposed to be their flagship "luxury" line. The same dealer sells Ford trucks & cars too, and is where I might be buying the 2021 Ranger.

But if Ford can't get their very expensive luxury line correct, why would I think any other Ford vehicle would be better than that? I might (I think we all would) expect/accept more issues with non-Lincoln vehicles, etc.

Anyways, I am still trying to get concrete info if 2021 Ranger will be modified T6 with the 2.7 as an option. I post it as soon as I know.
Don't know much about the Lincoln ( I drove a 2019 MKc (Corsair) for a few months. Very nice car. However, I would only lease a Lincoln not buy it for the long term.

I don't expect Ford to put a 6Cyl in the Ranger. It doesn't need a drivetrain redesign' They will put the 2.7 in F150 trucks. Maybe a Ranger Raptor.....But not the general Ranger. The` 4cyl is stronger than the competition. I for one like the idea of having a powerful 4 cyl than a mediocre 3.5 V6..Less moving parts is a good thing

The issue in this thread is not about Ford's quality control, it is about the intentional and unwarranted trolling.
The title of this thread is "Ford Build Issues"... you are letting "thread drift" take your eye off the ball Floyd.

Yes , that is the title,... read post #1 to see if you think it complies.

At any rate I will accept your point,
and the spirit in which it was given...
Thanx.

You were the lucky one to buy that rare lemon ;)
If Ford won't make the 2.7L a option for 2021 then I will gladly spend the extra $5k for a stage-I Rotrex kit for the v6 Tacoma.
And you are right, the v6NA on Tacoma is kinda sad, but then again, from a sales perspective, it does not matter that the Tacoma v6 is kinda sad.

As far as resale goes, I spent $21k for my 2006 new, sold it a few months back for $12.8k. I pretty sure you are not doing that with any Ranger.
