  1. KNOCKOFF Ford Ranger Raptor Grille

"Hardly any power". That was said when incandescent light bulbs were invented ;) Wanna-be Raptor seems to be the fad of the day. Why don't Ford just bring a damn Ranger Raptor to the US? Another sales gimmick (Tacoma does the same thing, don't know why). Sales gimmicks are not for me. In recent...
  2. Fake engine sounds?

Has to be the dumbest thing ever. In recent days I have found this Ford Ranger to not be a wise purchase choice, from cheazy fake engine noise inside the cabin, to an actual Ford letter I got in reply to my inquiry (Ford replies with BS and lies). I was looking to buy a 2021 Ranger, but no more...
  3. KNOCKOFF Ford Ranger Raptor Grille

You buy Ford parts from a Toyota guy....... a bit ironic, no?
  4. KNOCKOFF Ford Ranger Raptor Grille

What do the lights do?, other than use power......
  5. Has anyone done a complete 2019 Ranger oil/filter change by themselves yet?

But this issue is only on some engines, and not any in the US, yes?
  6. 2019 Ranger MPGs

That seems very wrong. Now you have 3 #'s in that equation, presumably 1st and 2nd were stored, and the 3rd was just read bu ECU. Will there be hundreds of #'s available for the equations when the # of data points is 2x10^12 ?? If the math does "rollback" (or "feedback") using just two #'s in...
  7. 2019 Ranger MPGs

The ONLY way to calc MPG is to have fuel usage and ODO #. Fuel use can only be calculated from a fuel flow meter, or using math and %PWM on the injectors sampled say every 0.05sec. Your math "(1440*22 + 10*1 = 31690 / 1441 = 21.9916)" looks faulty to me (in context of "lifetime avg"). Taking...
  8. 2019 Ranger MPGs

We went full circle on this. The ECU is not storing 1440 data points, or is it? Having 1440 data points over 2hrs does make it ez to calc the running 5sec avg for that specific 2hr window. But we are discussing "lifetime" avg, so where are all the data points coming from to calc the "lifetime"...
  9. 2019 Ranger MPGs

ok, so data points every 5sec. Sec or Mi does not matter, it's still the same problem I noted earlier. It also does not make sense, because at hwy speed when you throttle down to idle %pwm the MPG's go almost to infinity during every 5sec diff, and as such there's no way to store that # in the...
  10. 2019 Ranger MPGs

So, what exactly is the math? Every 10mi it takes a 10mi avg and then avg's that back with the last one? That would be very false math if the number is a "lifetime MPG avg". As example, lets say every 10mi it takes avg from ten data points (one per mi), and over 140mi it's...
  11. 2019 Ranger MPGs

Yeah, you would be right to question that claim. There's no wear in the engine that will account for that change in MPG's. Would not put it past them to code into the ECU some bogus math, so that over time you feel good about the "increased" MPG's as the vehicle get's more dirty with use...
  12. 2019 Ranger MPGs

The vehicle has a lifetime avg MPG's readout? Hmmm, where does it store all that data to calculate a "lifetime" number? Or, what math does it use to obtain this lifetime number? And just for clarity, a lifetime avg is kinda meaningless. If you avg say 20MPG for 10yrs and then a bad sensor...
  13. 2019 Ranger MPGs

The Tacoma becoming the 1st Tundra was not for any safety reasons, F150 did not grow in size because of safety regulations. ;) But this is a MPG's thread. All are worried about the dismal MPG's that the vehicle is giving them........ ;) Think I can say, other than the nostalgic comparisons...
  14. 2019 Ranger MPGs

Why does the truck get better MPG's the more you drive it and the more dirty the engine components get? Is it because the tires are starting to wear down, or the catalytic converters are working better as they age?
  15. 2019 Ranger MPGs

Trucks from 1985 were doing better than 20mpg! Why do the auto makers feel the need to take innovative engines that are way better in efficiency and then load them back down with bigger chassis and body just to get the MPG's of 1985? Ranger and Tacoma are no longer small pup's, they are...
  16. Known Issues and Their Solutions for the 2019+ Ford Ranger

In my other thread that was closed, I went to a Ford dealer that sells Ford and Lincoln, and almost every Lincoln they had (8 of 12) has some very obvious cosmetic defect or alignment issue. I wish makers would stop their 1,000 cars daily and slow down a bit to get back better quality.
  17. 2019 Ranger MPGs

Does MPG really mean anything? Why they don't make it a check-engine light when the ECU detects something really bad with MPG's? As I mentioned before, trying to compare is fruitless. Put gas in and drive it.
  18. Known Issues and Their Solutions for the 2019+ Ford Ranger

And this form-fit issue carries over into the Lincoln line too!
  19. 2019 Ranger MPGs

But your 80/70/60mph MPG's was on a 100mi flat drive on hwy, yes? You kinda have to do the same hwy and 100mi to compare, etc. The next best thing would be a "dyno" setup where wheel load would be indicative of the vehicle drag at speed. Recall that wind drag has V^2 in it, but you can...
  20. 2019 Ranger MPGs

Most likely it's related to engine RPM and not actual speed. Engine Eff, especially w/ forced air, will have a distinct max Eff based on the engine components used (cam, stroke, type of forced air, etc). In other words, your engine is running way more efficient at your 60mph RPM vs your 80mph...
