Not nearly as bad as posting Ranger stuff at TacomaWorld Forum. McDonald's sells a lot of hamburgers too That doesn't mean they're the best. Not trying to sell anything here. I had 3 Tacoma's in past and recently sold my Tacoma anticipating a deposit down in July 2020 for a 2021 Ranger, buy only if the v6 will be an option.
Why do you folks here get all up in arms if the word Tacoma is used here. After-all, Tacoma is the best selling small pup, and did not leave production for a few years and then come back.
There is a thread here for former Tacoma owners.I started it and I got no blowback.
I owned 1992, 2008, 2015 and 2016.. No one cares if you use the word Tacoma here. There are few of us that came from Toyotas. None want to go back. And yes it is because Tacoma is an inferior vehicle to the Ford Ranger at this point in time on many metrics. Reliability and resale is great IF you enjoy mediocracy, I would rather a truck with normal resale and enjoy the truck more.
I bought the 2106 Tacoma in the dark (assuming reliability and resale) and never have I heard "that all do it" from Toyota until the 2016. had Too many issues (some ongoing) for a mediocre truck that sells because of ,,,Hmmm reliability??? Resale means nothing if the engine is weak and the transmission is constantly shifting looking for a place to be. If I wanted a 'ten-year truck" I would buy the second-gen.
One test drive on the Ranger made all the difference. Tacoma is gutless with poor Fuel economy and Toyota dealer shops that claim "they all do it" No they don't.. Ranger was an easy choice going forward. I won't look at Tacoma again until both the Ranger and the Taco come out with redesigns.
