I’ve got a ‘21 Roush and ordered the CAI and Roush tune. The CAI is due to arrive today, so hoping to install it this evening. Having spoken with Roush, the tune retailers are marketing for the ‘19-‘21 Rangers isn’t actually complete yet for the 2021s. They expect the file to be finished and ready to be flashed in 2-3 months, so I’ve got a voucher for it when it’s available.

Not sure what you meant by "retailers" but every other tuner has files for '21. Roush would be the exception

Also I'd think twice about the Roush tune. There have been multiple users here reporting problems. CELs that keep repeating with no problems found by Technicians. Those users have reported that they had to remove the tune.

I was just asking what people on here actually thought a good mod for my truck based on a certain price given. Almost like this was a forum for people to share what they do like and don’t like or think would be worth it for our trucks.

Spoon fed is a little bit more than what I asked. If it was spoon fed, I’d expect direct links, and the mod paid for as well installed. ???

Hey Mack,

I think it would be tough for you to say “no” to the Roush CAI. It’s a super easy install that replaces the lid to your intake box, rather than the whole box. Easy maintenance and well-priced in the U.S. Besides, it wins on looks alone.

Pair it with a Magnum air scoop from aFe Power and you’ll be happy - I am.

If you really want a tune, consider the warranty-friendly FPP tune installed by your Ford dealership. If you’re not concerned about warranty, I’m sure others on here will provide some advice - you have a lot to choose from - just don’t blow a rod. ?

There are hundreds, if not thousands of things you could do to your truck.

Modifying a vehicle is not something where you just decide a budget, then find something to fit that budget. That's how you end up with something like this...

This forum is usefull. There's a lot of info here. Figure out what YOU want out of YOUR truck. Read through the forum, decide, build accordingly. This truck has been around a while. Chances are any question you have has been asked a thousand times.

If you just ask what to do you'll end up with a leveling kit, OTS tune, Fuel or Icon wheels w/ 275s, and a roof top tent. Just like 90% of modified Rangers. Do you want a truck just like everybody else? Or do you want to build YOUR truck?

If you want to mod your truck, and you have a $500 budget, just put it in the bank. Take the time used to figure out your build path to save some more money, you're gonna need it. Then do what YOU want.

However, I’ve spoken with several local Ranger owners running the Roush tune on their ‘19 & ‘20 Rangers who haven’t had any problems at all. One is my neighbor two doors down. Again, because I have a Roush I’m gonna stick with the “theme” and we’ll see. Perhaps part of the delay releasing the ‘21 files involves working out some of those kinks/bugs.

Edit: it might be interesting to find out if some of the issues with the Roush tune were on 2021 model year Rangers. If shops and dealers are selling and installing it on ‘21s, that might account for some/many of the issues. Just a thought, not trying to come across as an antagonist here.

Honestly, I have no clue if they really work or not, but the Roush CAI is very similar to the OEM. I can't hear any more engine noise, because of my vent to atmosphere BOV, LOL!

Gotcha. I couldn't tell if you meant the Roush tune specifically or not.

Good that you're aware, just wanted to make sure. From my recollection they were NOT '21s. But I could be mistaken.

That being said. WHY hasn't Roush released a tune for the '21s? It's 2022 now if you haven't noticed. Every other OTS tune is/has been available for '21s for quite a while now. As far as I know there is absolutely zero difference between. '19/'20 and '21. Unless the doodads everybody bitches about loosing affect the tune, which they can't.

That alone would give me reason to pause.

Agreed, I was also going to get the Roush tune and they were still developing the '21 tune almost 6 months ago....

That's why I went with the 5-Star tune.

Some of the other CAIs are an integrated one-piece solution (lid, box, and air scoop). Mishimoto does this and their air scoop is wider than the OEM scoop. The aFe Power Magnum scoop is also much wider and designed to snap into the OEM air box. Because the OEM air box is retained with the Roush CAI, it’s a great pairing.

Maybe Roush is reluctant to talk about the aFe scoop because they compete with them in the CAI space.

Agree with these words, but LOL at that pic,

People have told me that I should've used different wheels, but guess what, it's not their truck, not their decision and definitely not their money, so their opinion doesn't matter one bit to me! I do appreciate everyone that has complimented my truck though! But, I do not go to other members builds and tell them they should've done this, instead of that.
