ya i was reading a lot of people were stating it was better then the r80 but i cant say anything since i havent driven one lol.

thats a bummer but from what i was reading its the same trans just different clutches and lighter and i think a different tune setup? but could be wrong it was just something i read.
Slightly different gear ratios and yes, different clutch set up.

I traded my '21 STX RWD for a 24 XLT FX4

The 24 is
More quite, less road noise.
More pep with the 2.7
Smooth shifts with the 10R60
Rides better (but that could be due to FX4 "tuned" suspension.
Classier interior.
More gizmos - LED lighting, lane keeping, heated power seats, electric rear window, global window control (open/close windows with key fob), wireless AA and Car Play, integrated TBC available...
24 FX4 with 2.7 averaging 22MPG vs 24MPG in my '21 RWD 2.3

I need more cab room and a 6’ bed so it looks like a full size truck is in my future but I really like the size of Rangers.
Earlier mention of Subarus, wife’s got an Outback, I find it too noisy.

If I didn't need the truck I might have a Corvette.

The stock HP is 315 for the 2.7L, less than my tuned 2.3L. If the 2.7 is tunable, I will be interested.

I came from a Edge Sport with the 2.7L and tuned it... its a great engine, but at the same time not as exciting as one would expect from its claims. Even tuned its powerful once it gets on song, but overall its just a good engine. I am surprised endlessly at how potent the 2.3L 4 banger is compared to that hyper complex 2.7L In the end... I think I like the simple powerful (and noisy) 2.3L over the 2.7 for lack of stuff to go wrong.

the 2.7L can do 400/400 with a pretty safe tune on 93 Octane

Didn’t the edge only come with a 6 speed though? I bet the big difference is that, 4 more gears.

I drove a 2024 XLT 4x4 with 3800 miles and the 23 Lariat Tremor with 30k miles(which I ended up buying). In the end it was about the 24 looking like a swelled up Maverick and it was listed for $38k and that dealer wouldn't budge, plus the Tremor was $5k cheaper and has the amenities I wanted. Just not the biggest fan of the Maverick look.

Yeah the trans on the edge sucked. I wish it came with an 8 speed ZF box back then. So you are probably right

That would be a strong contender with the Outback. They are nice and Alex @viperwolf has one and AFAIK he still really likes it.
Yes they are really popular over here, particularly with young families or people who live in the inner city where parking spaces are small and infrequent. All the advantages of a Ranger with the advantages of a station wagon. They're basically a Ranger from the back of the rear door forward. The rear suspension is excellent, coils with a straight axle, dual trailing arms and a Watts linkage. I have umed and arred over the years about swapping my Ranger for one now that it's just mostly the two of us and we have the larger caravan, as we no longer need to take as much stuff when we go camping.
