I was thinking about looking at the Raptor until I saw the window sticker and also got a close look at it, they are not that great as far as I could see and not worth that much money! I walked across the street from Ford to Chevy and looked at the Colorado ZR2 and found that if I spent that kind of money, it would not be for a Raptor but the ZR2 not only is it a better-looking truck, but it has things you cannot get on a Ford! I am not a person that is sold on one brand but want the most for my money and it would be the ZR2.
The only cool thing that I see would be cool about the Colorado for you would be…

You drive a Colorado
You live in Colorado
You live in the city of Colorado Springs

That’s easy to remember and I’m sure there’s a good joke in there somewhere.

but for everyone else they are likely going to be Ranger fans, this is a Ranger forum.

Finally gave in to the curiosity and test drove a ā€˜24 XLT with the 2.7L.

All in all, seems like it addresses my gripes with my 2019 while somehow also feeling the same. While I’d enjoy a longer bed option, the 2024 certainly felt more stable than the 2019 as it drove. Going through curves it felt confident and the weight of it felt substantial enough to make it feel predictable in some way.

I really expected the 2.7L to be peppier. Especially if there’s a cam phaser risk associated with them then I’d want a performance tradeoff. I didn’t try sport mode tho.

Maybe it’s because it was new, but the ā€˜24 did feel better built. Something about it just felt more solid. Almost the feeling I get in my wife’s 4Runner.

One perk of the 2.7L is it didn’t sound like an angry sewing machine. Just sounded proper!

In the end I told my wife it seemed like my 2019 but 5% better in nearly every way. I’m not sure 5% is enough to make it worth the new loan tho.

odd note: I went to Ranger6g to read up on stuff before going to the dealer. That crew is a bunch of cranky hoes. Everyone seems like they’re itching for a forum fight, and any request for info is met with a rude ā€œGoogle it yourselfā€ response. What a cold, sad place.
I added a Borla catback, new Eibach shock set and a little more rubber, solved the sewing machine and stability questions. Plus cheaper than a new truck and big debt

I had a '17 ZR2 until a year or so ago, it was def strong offroad plus the multimatic shocks worked great on highways. Haven't driven a new one but the '19 Ranger Lariat from the '17 ZR2 was a nice upgrade in pretty much every way

Other than the usual useless reply I am not looking to start a brand argument I was just stating the fact that I do not see the 2024 or the 2025 Ranger or the Raptor worth the money and that you will not find one that is worth the asking price that Ford wants and at my age I could care less about any off road, the Z71 Colorado is better than the Ranger to me.

I do like the looks of the Colorado too, and to be honest it does look a little better than the 6g Ranger to me, it’s a sharp looking truck. When the new Colorado was coming out people were speculating that the Colorado would get the 10 speed, I did go to the build page and take a look but once it was revealed it’s sticking with the 8 speed like the Silverado 2.7, I lost interest.

But for me I’m more into the powertrains and spec sheets. The Ranger with a 10 speed blows the competition out of the water right there, 25% more gears with the ability to have more aggressive final drive at 3:73. Even with the 2.3 down on power compared to chevys 2.7 with 310hp/430 tq the Ranger wins as seen on TFL. Plus you can order a ford performance tune on the 2.3 and 3.0 not sure of the 2.7 tune is out yet.

Did you drive one? I do like the looks of the Zr2, always have, but after seeing a YT video comparing the Ranger offroad, to the ZR2 was no match. I think Chevy also uses more "active" suspension so it likely rides more like boat which I don't care for. I've not compared them, so I can't see, but there's some comparison videos out there.

I haven't tried a new '24 yet and doubt I will. Besides the Raptor I wouldn't get another Ranger unless they came out with a good hybrid but it would have to be really good and not $60K. My needs for a truck are dwindling down and will more so after we move later this spring. I've been eyeing the Subaru Outbacks (I'm liking them more and more) and a couple other crossovers which would be more than enough for my needs now.

As far as 6G goes most wouldn't last a day over here. lol :lipssealed:
I wish Ford would bring the Ranger Everest to the states. I'd buy one the next day they arrived.

That would be a strong contender with the Outback. They are nice and Alex @viperwolf has one and AFAIK he still really likes it.

I upgraded too from a 5g to 6g.

I still drive a 5g for work but my personal vehicle is a 6g.

The LED headlights and the interior is the biggest changes. They are both good with the 6g having the edge for sure.

No, I did not considering that I would not be able to buy it I just sat in it and have to say it is way more comfortable in the seats than my Ranger and the one thing that really got my attention was that it had a HUD and from driving my wife's Mercedes that has a HUD I just loved that. As for four wheel drive, I do not care that much about that since at my age I do not do that at all. I also loved the twin panel sunroof and the power rear window! But these are things that are factory add on. The ZR2 comes with a factory installed lift kit also. Well, nuff said about Chevy but in all my years of having Ford which is three Rangers, one F-150 sidestep and a F-250 and three F-350 both Single wheel and Dual wheel and having one bought back by Ford I will take my old 2013 Ram 3500 over all of them.

IMO, it's superior to an Outback and more comparable to a 4-Runner. There were rumors this was coming to the US, but Ford must have changed their tune as there seems to be no more chatter about it. I think it looks great.

Looked at the new ranger while getting an oil change, looks like they have power in the bed now.

Count me as interest in the Subaru as well. I like having a small truck but, the outback interests me.
Still thinking about a bronco as well. Depends what interest rates are in the next year.
