  1. What did you do to your Ranger today?

So with the extended dipstick... can you use that to suck out the fluid from the trans to do a drain/fill? Like feeding a hose down it? I know you can add fluid through it, but was curious about the other direction
  2. What did you do to your Ranger today?

I did a few things! Installed the Aeroskin bug deflector thingy. (Its covering up a bit of a dent from hitting a turkey at 70mph the other week) I also drained and filled Front and Rear Differentials and the transfer case. (22K miles) The Rear diff was filthy, and the magnet had some fun big...
  3. It has happened to me! (Dreaded Fan Sensor - Crumbling Hose!)

Hmm this is all pretty wild and pretty simple. Clearly they need some flex to avoid the shock fatigue of the fan engaging, but in the words of 90's informercials - there has to be a better way! I am curious if some careful 3D design with a high tensile/durable and high temp TPU would help...
  4. What did you do to your Ranger today?

So, I picked up one of those cheap $275-350 Ebay LED brake replacements... and besides for it lacking the "ranger" emboss on the inside of the metallic part inside the lens, it is a perfect fit and replacement! I may grab another just to have the other side match lacking the little "ranger"...
  5. What did you do to your Ranger today?

backed the f'r into the edge of my garage, cracked the rear drivers tail light... (thats the only damage)... the backup sensors never made a nose and the camera didnt see the edge of the wood coming at the very edge of the bed./bumper. FML... just ordered a $350 ebay special if it works it...
  6. Rear wheel rattle/grinding when backing up only

haha took me a second to realize the Africa reference :) I have a world map keyboard/mouse pad that I do use now and then to plan up some trips from time to time :)
  7. Rear wheel rattle/grinding when backing up only

yeah it sounded pretty much like a dragging exhaust, it was weird :)
  8. Rear wheel rattle/grinding when backing up only

Found the lil bast'rd. It was right by the debris exit on the bottom of the brake shield but just wouldn't fall out on its own. Cut a nice groove into the back of the disk that I could feel with my gloves.
  9. Rear wheel rattle/grinding when backing up only

I didn't expect this to turn into a semantic thing :) I guess it's because we are moving in reverse gear, I guess we could say moving in Drive as well for forward? I'll consult with the rock stuck in my brake shield to see what it prefers the nomenclature to be :)
  10. Rear wheel rattle/grinding when backing up only

So my wife mentioned it and I had her back the car up and it’s pretty wild. Silent rolling forward but backing up there is a curious rattle on the drivers side rear. Not really tied to speed it seems either. curious if there is a rock in the brake shield, but not sure why it wouldn’t make a...
  11. What did you do to your Ranger today?

Just added in my reconfigured J&L Oil catch can (from my 2017 Edge Sport, sent in and had it cleaned and re-done for the Ranger for $70) to my 2019 Lariat (man getting to that back fitting behind the manifold is... a PITA.), and the Trac Auto Folding mirror control box that folds in the mirrors...
  12. Just migrated to a 2019 Lariat FX4 with sketchy low miles from a 2017 Edge Sport

Guessing its having some dogs in the car + leaves... but yeah, pretty messy filter!
  13. Just migrated to a 2019 Lariat FX4 with sketchy low miles from a 2017 Edge Sport

Yeah, rolling back an ODO is massively challenging in modern cars, requires pretty much swapping the ECU for lower mileage ones, but then the hard coded VIN is a mismatch as well. And as you said there is no way a ford dealer would CPO a truck that was rolled back... or even had a hint it was...
  14. Just migrated to a 2019 Lariat FX4 with sketchy low miles from a 2017 Edge Sport

given the experian car report, and CARFAX, and the routine maintenance the truck had… that wouldn’t be possible to hide that. It was a low mile lease for the first owner. But yeah, I was also shocked at the air filter. everything else on the truck looks like a sub 20k mile vehicle.
  15. Which is the best catch can

100%. Only negative would be is if someone neglects checking the status of that catch can for an extended period and it fills up. In winter it seems they fill up much faster so it's good to keep an eye on it.
  16. Evidence of Mice issues in the past?

I mean I do own an orange truck that kinda looks like an aged cheddar after all :)
  17. Which is the best catch can

The golden thing about cars... you can maintain them how you want. You can run oil until the oil life reminder goes off, and probably have the car run fine for the timeline you'll own it.... you can run a catch can or not.... you can change trans fluid way ahead of the schedule or not... Its...
  18. Which is the best catch can

Or... don't use one... no one cares. Everyone can maintain their ride how they want, and walnut blasting when you start experiencing CELs or just bad idle, and performance for no real reason... is definitely an option.
  19. Which is the best catch can

Umm... all DI engines have the issue... by design (unless they are the newer dual injection style where there is a set of port injectors that work now and then like the updated 2.7L Ecoboost). Lack of port injectors on most DI engines leads to the oil vapor coming out of the crank case to burn...
