Have been researching tires looking for a solid set of ATs that aren't obnoxious on road but perform well in snow/rain/off-road. Many on here have run the Wildpeaks AT3s with success but I found quite a few other forums where users had several bad tires (vibration, etc.) with them and went through headache after headache trying to balance them to no avail. If the Falkens aren't the answer, are the Cooper AT3s a fair compromise?

Not sure.. No experience with them..
Goodyear Silent Armor and Adventure Kevlar are both excellent - aligned with your needs. High quality, long wearing, smooth rolling, quiet, and solid performers off road. These Adventures have 25k miles on them and work great on and off road..

Prior to taking delivery, I planned to have my dealer install Wildpeak AT3's. My Service Advisor convinced me to buy Toyo Open Country AT3's. Had them installed together with the Ford Tuned Fox 2.0 Level kit.

Couldn't be happier.

I had that coopers on my nissan before I got the ranger and they worked awesome in snow and mud. They did get a little roar when they wore down low but don't all at tires. But lasted good and preformed good on trails as well

Those look good on the stock wheels! What size tire did you go with?

Second the toyo open country AT3s

As someone that was looking at the wildpeaks I turned to general grabbers but when I went to order my wheels and tires they were out of stock and on back order.

My shop asked if I wanted to look at the toyo open country AT3s that had just come out.

After a bit of research I went with the AT3s and although I still wish I could have gotten the generals the toyo AT3 ha e been great on road.

I have seen alot of people happy with them off road and look forward to see how they age. They look great on my truck and ride great.

I'm happy to recommend the open country AT3s all because I haven't been disappointed at all and this is a Tire that wasn't on my radar.

Great tires...super quiet...would buy again but the price went up...55,000 miles on first set...

Happy with the Falkens here (265//70/17)

I did have a vibration between 60-65 mph but it was solved by installing hubcentric centering rings.

Now they are very smooth and quiet, and light years better than the stock Hankooks were in every measure.

I only have around 5k on them though so things could change as they get more wear.

So your issue was more related to the wheel rather than the tire?

I have Wildpeak AT Trail's on my wife's VW Atlas, and they are phenominal. Super quiet on the highway, excellent in the rain, and just enough tread for the little bit of light off-roading that it will see. I will definately be considering AT2 or AT3 for the ranger when it comes time to replace the OEM.
