Bought one for my 2021. It appears that the only thing holding it to the hood is 3M double sided tape. How well will this hold up in a car wash and over time?

It's auto trim adhesive, same stuff that holds on emblems and such. As long as you prep the surface as directed (remove any wax, alcohol wipe) that stuff isn't letting go without a heatgun after 24hrs. I have the AVS version of the OEM deflector and it can take a direct hit from pressure washer no issue.

Good to know. I was going to install after my next wash and alcohol wipe. It seemed a little flimsy

I got the AVS one from Amazon. It is the one Ford uses as OEM. However, all the Ford Dealerships wanted more to ship it than it cost to buy! Even AVS wanted a butt load to ship it. Amazon delivered it for $100. I think the 3M tape works fine since, as someone said, it is what the factory uses to install the emblems. I installed some extra emblems on my Colorado Z71 with the 3M tape and never had any issues. Best thing about that truck was trading in in for my 2020 Ranger. Below is the ridiculous price Ford wanted.

Actually ordered from “RealTruck” in March, had a 20% off AVS items sale, $97, got window vents at same time, now $104, reg $122. Free Shipping.. 1st purchased one for my 16’ F350, 5 years ago, no issue.

I just put the Ford one on mine. Said keep it from getting wet for 72 hours to fully cure. Just wondering about the expansion and contraction cycling of the plastic with temp change and how it will stress the tape. Took a lot of masking tape to mark the hood so it came out perfectly 1/2 mm above the edge across the entire hood so it looks even.

Actually the Ford one is an AVS, might just be missing the AVS logo. The one put on F350 5 years ago, no issue, Ben in temps from -25 to 115+ during last few years. Friend has one on F250, hit a cow at road speed, except where hood damaged, rest kept intact, so tape holds better than ever expected. So unless an unknown defect, don’t expect an issue.

I also have this same deflector - was my way of doing an 'old man' mod w/out it looking like an 'old man' mod. lol

I've had NO issues with it for about 3 months now...used my ford points total was $89 or something (free to me though). :)
