I've seen a few posts on this, but no clear consensus...

I had a bug shield at the turn of the century ) but it did nothing to deflect bugs from my windshield. Can anyone positively state that one shield or another will prevent bugs from hitting the windshield?

Have the AVS II and just did a 108 miler. The swarming bugs still made it to the windshield.

Remember those ones that stood straight up 6" and came in transparent colors? Fugly as hell. Bet that's your closest ticket.

That might have been the only game in town back in the 70's. Flasbacks…. another thread )

AVS 2 also. Live in Central Florida but only had it on a few days. But it'll hopefully save the paint on the hood at least.

That looks nice. Paint protection is only a bonus for me. Bug splats are main concern here.

I don't have one on the Ranger yet but have an AVS on the Edge and while not 100% effective, I have seen bugs coming at the windshield and then go up and over. I've done some long distance driving before and after installing it and it helps. Again, not 100% but I would say better than 50% reduction in bug splats. It also took a rock hit , left a crack in the deflector but better than the hood.

Hi KJ,

We had a saying at Ford Truck Engineering..."Some days you are the bug and some days you are the Windshield" For me, yesterday was a bug day. Today was a windshield day! ?
