I have and installed the OEM bug deflector and absolutely prefer the clips it has. Believe it or not when installed correctly it is a better mount system then the ones that you have to push the plastic pins into between the rubber seal and hood. Also it creates a gap at the bottom of the hood that allows the garbage to fall thru and not be stuck between the deflector and hood.

Any of you that own the OEM bug deflector disappointed with how they designed it? It’s held on by tight clamps that only have 3M adhesive under them to prevent from damaging your hood. I installed mine yesterday and I’m debating on removing it after looking at my mother’s 4Runner with the same style system. Hers now has dirt and grime under the adhesive.

Despite all that, for $100 I am disappointed. Looks like this could have been held in just fine with the two center clamps.

Anyone running the OEM deflector and upset with it?

Looks wise, it’s gorgeous and adds an awesome look to the truck and hopefully performs well with its purpose, but the install and how it’s designed sucks.
I’m having the same issue with it and to put it bluntly, think it’s b.s. Don’t get me wrong, there are some good aspects of it, though not enough to save it from the trash bin. Only added it to mitigate the possibility of paint damage on the front of the hood. Now I’m planning on removing it before the clips get to the paint and leaving the hood unprotected, or ordering and installing the Aeroskin 2, Black Textured Hood Protector Part No: VKB3Z-16C900-D. Not sure how it will look with the White Platinum paint, but I think it may mesh well with my Go Rhino RB10’s and the Gatorback mudflaps. Thoughts?
