I guess my parents and I have both had good agents then. Neither of us have had to fight our agents for claims.

Sorry you've had bad experiences.
Likewise, it's good to hear some folks have good experiences.

usaa is a good company ;)
USAA unfortunately has gotten worse past few years. Used to be the gold standard.

I am going to get an extended warranty thru Ziegler most likely. Am going to call and ask some questions, most importantly re. Parts not being available and rental coverage. Anybody deal with that?

How so? I have been considering giving them a call with all the good things I hear, my boss and many others are with them.

This most likely goes back to what Rob said about having a good agent. If your agent doesn't go out of his way for you then it just reflects on the company. Kind of like all the bad reviews of a restaurant. Sometimes when you read through them it has nothing to do with the food but the horrible service. You should be able to get both but it's getting harder and harder to find that now.

Specific to me, USAA won’t insure your house in FL unless you are on active duty orders. my son got in an accident and though I had rental car option on they would not provide one because of “availability”. They also totalled the vehicle and it only had 5k damage. Would not consider other estimates because I took it to their approved repair place first. Comps were completely wrong….just a bad experience, and I have been with them for more than 30 years. my 2 cents.

Also, they farm out to subs a lot of what they used to do in-house, spec. Mortgages and comps for vehicles as well as salvage titles. Dealt with a lot of admin issues with both sides pointing at each other in the process.

another example would be their car buying service. It used to be in the 90s you could call with the VIN and dealer info. They worked the deal for you and you could take it or leave it. Now you get referred to dealers and the dealers won’t leave you alone. Quit using it 20 years ago. Of course, now I sound like a cranky old guy. I need to go grab a beer.

Which tier are you guys looking at? Ziegler has 4 levels of plans, premium care, extra care, base care, and what looks like power train care. Is there a better value to one of these?
Just purchased the premium care for 6yrs/75k for $685 from Flood. I only have 18k on the clock and compared to what the Ford website quoted me, I feel like I got a decent deal.

Wow….guess my post generated a bit of conversation around warranty’s, insurance, and other stuff. At least I didn’t see anything about dampers!!!! And, yes, I am a proud owner of one.
Yep, it’s totally understood that Ford and any other company has run the numbers and just like Vegas the table is strongly tilted in they’re favor….but, for me, paying $745 for an extra 3 years makes me feel good being my mileage will only be in the low-mid 20’s when the original expires. My thinking (just that) is with those few miles in the first 3 years it isn’t enough for stuff to be tested and know if there may be problems so the extra warranty is insurance. I typically do not get extended warranty’s on anything and with all the electronics and such I’m a bit concerned. If I never use it (and that would be great) at least it was just $745 and not thousands.

@SaberRanger I went through Flood Ford. 8yr/125,000. $100 deductible for $2185. The warranty starts from date of vehicle purchase. Premium Plan.

I just compared Flood and Zeigler and Flood was lower.

However, the 6 yr/75k plan with $200 deductible is $795 for me.

Is yours 2WD?

The only reason I'm considering one of these is because of the HVAC issues popping up.

My miles are so low that I'm sure my 3yrs will be up before anything manifests.

It's a pain in the ass but it's not a bad idea to shop insurance quotes every 5 years or so. I've changed a few times in my life when it seemed the premium was going up but the cars were worth less. I think they quote you a sweet low rate to get you to sign with them. I'm not changing to save 50 bucks so they have to make it worth something. Then after a year or 2 they raise the premium little by little thinking you won't notice or care.

My buddy's business policies were $80K a year. Couple of warehouses, tractor trailers, box trucks, couple of full size vans, liability. He took over for his dad who always used the same buy. He found full replacement policies for $50K. When the agent found out he was losing the account he called to find out what was going on. He said if you game me a chance I would have matched it. My friend said you were taking an extra 30K from me you should have offered me a discount instead of taking me to a baseball game an hung up on him.
