So my truck parks on the side of our house. Right next to my neighbors bedroom window. I needed to get up and go at 5:00 this morning and he's retired - can sleep as long as he wants so I try to stay quiet. This morning my tires were between 24 and 26 PSI all the way around. Likely the cooler nights setting in.

I didn't want to fire up an air compressor at 4:30 next to his bedroom so I broke out the bicycle pump. It took NO TIME to air up the tires to 30. I was expecting to be running late. Now the pump in question is a high capacity 630 ccm/pump model but still - truck tires are BIG and they take a lot of air. This was faster than waiting an hour to reinflate / air up my tires on the side of a trail using a 12 air compressor and letting it cool between tires.

Now obviously going from 26 to 30 is going to be exponentially faster than 18 or 20 to 30. I think next time I'm off road, I'll do a shoot out comparison. Left side aired up with a compressor and right side with a high capacity hand pump. If the hand pump comes even close to the time the air compressor does, I'll look for a larger hand pump and keep it in the truck instead of the crappy hot 12v air compressor.

I'm pretty sure that's the pump my wife has for her bikes. Way faster than any 12v compressor I have and probably as fast as my 120v one.
Imagine how good it could be if they just put TWO of those air cylinders on it at one time. 630 CCM goes to 1260 CCM per pump. Cut your time in half.

I may do that comparison this weekend or next in the driveway.

Greg, I want you for my neighbor. Very few neighbors are as considerate as you.

Is that thing really that good Dave, I need a 12v for mine and would rather not spend $300 to get one worth while.
I've had it about a year now and really like it Charlie. I wanted something small and like you didn't want to spend a fortune and these were highly recommended in the Jeep community. I usually air down to 20-22 lbs and filling back up to 32 lbs takes roughly about 3-4 minutes per tire.

Never thought of using one on a truck but it’s a great idea. I have a Topeak fat tire pump for my Sasquatch fat bike... I might throw it it my truck to have in case of emergency!

I usually carry a 12 v jump box with an air compressor on it. The compressor is loud an slow. When my twins were in college I was fixing their beater cars a lot an carried it. I went to check on of the cars an 3 of the 4 tires had under 20 psi in them. The charge lasted long enough to get them up to 30 psi but took a while.

Even at 10 psi I think I would have driven carefully to a service station. Good on you for not waking up your neighbor.
