I got a quote from my dealer to flush & fill the transmission (16 qts) for $350. No filter yet because of low miles (40k).

I would do the filter. My fluid was really dirty and the filter is what keeps that dirt out of the internals. I changed mine at 30k.

When I got home I topped it off till it ran out. Figured it was safer than having to little. With so many people doing the fill to spill method and no threads about transfer case issues it must be fine lol.

Flush? Or just drain and fill?

just did mine sucked out almost 7 quarts from trans ... new deep pan with drain plug and fitz stick was all most 9 quarts ... rockauto is your friend for fluid...
For those who have already changed your transmission filter, did you change the round filter seal at the same time? It didn't come with the Ford filter. I looked on Rock auto and didn't find it listed.

I'm thinking that I am going to reuse it. Thoughts?

They say it is reusable, and if I didn't have a Ford dealer that had one in stock that I pass almost every day, I probably would have. In the end, it was something like $3, so I replaced it.

$6.18 a Qt. On Rockauto

https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog...ansmission-automatic,transmission+fluid,11387

Moto-craft filter 54$

Even with shipping should be $130 w/10quarts And filter. Not sure if you can do it on your own but I’d try or get a garage mechanic still be cheaper.
I agree except I’m being cautious with my extended warranty. If the dealer does the work and I have trans issues later they can’t deny a claim over the fluid flush by a non-Ford garage.

I replaced my differential fluids at 1k miles.

The front still looked new, but I was surprised at how much gunk was on the rear diff plug.

I should hit 30k sometime this summer so I will be doing all the fluids at this time.

Even though I technically don't need to do the transmission filter at 30k, I'm going to replace it anyway since it has all the break-in garbage in it.

This will be when I install my Mishimoto aluminum transmission pan as well.

I reused mine. It looked brand new at 60K miles
