Dreaded noisy fan

Has anybody ever come up with a fix for the dreaded Ranger noisy engine fan? I read somewhere that the engine cover on the Lariat can cover it up, But I don't want to cover it I want to fix it.

You mean right after a cold start?

Nothing is going to fix that short of yanking it off and using an electric fan.

Yup!! Right after cold start. Annoying as hell. Buddy of mine even commented on it and asked what's wrong with your truck?

The engine cover will do absolutely zero to quiet that fan.

Yeah that is normal. Unless you can convince Ford to change the parameters in the PCM for the Fan Clutch(you rear that right) then you are simply going to have to deal with it. It's part of the joy of having a electric fan clutch(again you read that right).

There have been other trucks over the years that have done it. Old S10/S15/Blazers were loud as hell when they first started as well.

Pretty obvious what that noise is.

There have been other trucks over the years that have done it. Old S10/S15/Blazers were loud as hell when they first started as well.

That was the first thing that came to mind to me. I remember early 2000 blazers with the 4.3 sounding like a Harrier on take off

Yep - wife had a 02 Blazer , I HATED that POS.

Sure, it sounds like an F550 but I don’t mind it. It lasts maybe a minute or so.

Turn off the fake fan noise in Forscan? Seriously though, this is the last thing about the Ranger I would be concerned about. It doesn't last very long, and worrying about what someone thinks about it is nuts.

Think of it as the anti-cat procedure. The fan runs good and strong at first to kick out any furry debris that might be caught up in there.

I wouldn't call it dreaded, it's something that is there but not an issue. Every vehicle I have owned over the past 50+ years that had a clutch fan did the same thing when started cold.
