So the Tremor's almost here, and I'm eating up all the offroad Ranger youtubes on the net. I've done a little offroading with my '97 Ranger, but nothing like where the Tremor can go. The rear differential looks like it's the most vulnerable and scrapes alot. Is this a common failpoint? What do you guys do for a diff guard, and is it necessary or am I just overhtinking it?

Awesome forum. I'm learning alot.

Thanks!

It really depends on where you go OffRoad. When I still had my Ranger I hit quite a few trails to say the least. Did I ever scrape the read diff? A few times yes, but the entire time the truck did just fine. If you normally get into the extreme rocky terrain then a diff gaurd may be a good idea. Until then I say wait and see what happens.

I was under mine and bashed my face into the diff when I tried to avoid getting sprayed by silicone when the red tube thing fell off and the stuff went all over. Pretty sure I wouldn't have two small cuts near my eye if I had the guard.

Not sure if it's 100% relevant but maybe if you're clumsy/dumb like me.
