Since there is zero difference, beyond options, I would say there is a 99.9% chance the XLT had over inflated tires.
I agree.
Having had an XLT, I can say the 17" tires ride a bit smoother than the 18".

The XLT has a better instrument cluster and I liked look of the headlight assembly when it's off. :)

I totally agree, the Lariat instrument cluster is a cluster f**k lol. its just stupid.
One of the things that really bugs me, you cant change the radio stations using the steering wheel unless you have the right side display on Entertainment.
which means there's redundant audio info, and you cant have the compass displayed or other display and still use the steering wheel controls.
I use the voice command to change radio stations. Effortless

I keep the right side on the Navigation (so the compass displays) and I'm able to switch radio stations with the steering wheel next/prev buttons - That only cycles thru the presets, though. Maybe you were referring to tuning the radio manually?
really? mine will not cycle through them. but it uses the up/down arrow button to go thru the stations on radio. do you mean the left and right arrows on the steering wheel?

I think the buttons are mapped differently depending on the trim and packages. I have the Lariat with 501a. It is on the lower buttons on the right side of the steering wheel (I can't get a photo right now). Not the navigation buttons (4 arrow keys) higher on the steering wheel. Using the left most buttons (up/down) I can go thru the preset stations.

that's so odd... i have a Lariat 501a pkg as well.
Here's my steering wheel.
the 4 arrow keys (the up /down on the right side of st wheel) buttons changes the presets ONLY when the right gauge cluster is in Entertainment mode. (the cluster display to the right of the speedo)
the lower buttons are phone, voice and volume only.
the buttons on the left side on the steering wheel only operate the left side gauge cluster.
i HATE this dash cluster. It's just stupid. poor arrangement.

See photo below - when I use that rocker (up/down), it will cycle thru the presets when I have my right hand side screen with the compass displaying. I think it is kind of a dual use button - if you are using the phone, it is for the phone, but if you aren't talking on the phone, it is the next/prev button.

While I don't have a problem with the gauge cluster, I do think it could have been done better.

I have been driving an Explorer Sport for the last 5 years and the Lariat's instrument cluster is almost identical to the Explorer Sport so I am right at home. There are a few things I miss from the Sports left screen but it isn't a burden. Right screens are identical...

yeah, the two phone icon buttons, found them....still stupid. lol
but at least its workable.
dumb dumb dumb... there's NO reason to NOT have consistency among, if not ALL Ford vehicles, then at least the trucks.
consistency and continuity breeds success !

Agreed - and it reduces cost, which seems to be a big thing these days.

I found these kind of by accident - they do have the > and < icons on it, but they are small and hard to see. I was trying to figure out how to put the nav unit into engineering mode and you had to press the two forward buttons (I think). It took me quite a while to figure out where the "other" forward button was.

Agreed. I have an F150, my wife has an Escape . The A/C fan controls are on the bottom for mine, and the top for hers. Always pressing the wrong one in her car.

Seriously agree that consistently is key.

We had them on our 2004 Explorer - I really liked them. Sounded kind of odd at first but it is nice to have some lighting when you are approaching your vehicle at night, especially in a dark parking lot.

The mirrors on the Lariat are also heated. I'm not sure if you can get that on an XLT or not. I know you can get power mirrors and folding mirrors, but I don't think you can get the turn indicators, heated mirrors, or puddle lights on an XLT.
My 2020 XLT has heated mirrors and turn sig. indicators in mirrors. Not sure if ordered special or what. Just thought I would add.

Someone must have retro fitted them. I'm 99.9% positive they are not available from the factory on anything but a Lariat.

I know there have been threads on doing it.

Indeed.
My '21 XLT Sport with 302A and tech package did not have those mirrors.
I'd bet on added later as well.

If you look at the (Window Sticker) it will list a (Equipment Package)

Options for the 2020 (XLT) for the mirrors
300A - Manual Folding - Power Adjustable (Glass)
301A - Power Folding - Power Adjustable (Glass) - Auto-Dim Mirror (Rear View)
302A - Adds Power / Heated Seats & Rear Window Defog

you have to move up to the Lariat Trim to get the (Heated Mirrors, Turns & Puddle Lamps)

500A or 501A - Package

So, someone added the Lariat Mirrors and ran the needed wiring for it.
