I have a 2021 lariat in order, RWD with 501A, tech package, trailer tow, black appearance and electronic locking rear diff - sticker price is about $41.5k

I found on auto trader in my area a 2020 with the exact same options but with 13k miles for $36k

are there any real difference between the two trucks? I wanted brand new but a $6k difference is tempting if there’s no real difference between the two.

Edit: the only thing I can see if the Ford logos being blue instead of black but I plan on putting the raptor grill on the front anyway and I can easily swap out the back one for a black emblem. Also, the 2020 comes with tow hooks which I wanted to put on anyway (not sure why the 2021 doesn’t have this anymore…)

I think the only difference is the 2021 might be missing some things that have been removed, presumably for cost savings, or possibly sue to supply shortages.

My 2020 oct '20 build has all the stuff that has been removed. I have the engine cover, light and damper on the glovebox, plugs in the rocker panels, folding rear headrests (after I did the button mod) and a few other things I can't remember. Only thing I don't have is the 2 extra tiedowns, but few of us have those after 2019.

The 2020 you found probably will have all that stuff, too, but you can't be certain until you see it.

As far as mechanical, nothing has changed. Cosmetic wise there were a few changes and not for the good. They did away with a few things in mid 2020 like the extra tie downs in the bed, engine cover and the Ranger embossed in the leather seats. If you like the 2020 I'd save the money and go with that one. It'll be more money saved for mods. ?

My '21 has tow hooks.

On the Lariat, besides what was already mentioned, the '20 will have a color matched tailgate handle. It will also have rear door handle sensors for locking/unlocking.

If you decide to go the used route, be sure to really check it over. You never know if you're buying someone else's headache.

Get a CARFAX REPORT !!!!!
A Carfax report will not tell you if the vehicle had been damaged and repaired without being reported. Back in '04 when I tried my hand at auto sales, but I just couldn't do it their sleazy way, and so I only lasted three months, the dealership took a used truck in on trade and all they did was run the Carfax report on it which came back clean. When somebody wanted to purchase that used truck they asked to see it up on the rack and sure enough it had major damage that was repaired.
Years ago my younger brother got ripped off from a dealer who sold him a car and the title said rebuilt. He thought it meant the engine has been rebuilt. He didn't know it meant the car had been pieced together because it had been totaled. "He did not run a Carfax report on it. Good luck!

True. My last car got rear-ended. It was very minor, just needed a bumper and rear hatch repainted. Cops came, looked at it and said just exchange insurance and then drove away, no report. That never showed up on carfax. I didn't feel bad about it because there was no real damage to speak of.
