I returned the other version I ordered from Amazon. The connectors are keyed wrong. I will be ordering the Dongar brand one instead.

Any recommendations for where to tap a dash cam power? It’s has Ground, Hot and Accessory. I have wired few dashcams in few cars from ‘90 ~ late 2010s (Volvo, Toyota, BMW, Nissan etc.) before but this is the first time on a vehicle with auto-stop/start feature. Currently it has harness with OBD adapter for Thinkware U1000 and IGN-3F module for compatible with auto-stop/start. I want to switch to a different dashcam that came with 3-pole hardware kit but it doesn’t specify how this new cam deals with ASS function of the truck. Do I still need the latch ignition module (IGN-3F) or just simply tap into a switched ignition fuse for the accessory (ACC)? Recommendations please.
Try Dongar technologies, pretty simple, we all like simple, no stringing wired just pop off a plate, unplug, insert pigtail, replace plate. TADA

Check out youtube , accessabliity at the rear mirror cluster pop off the plastic cover there is a pigtail made that plug and plays. The only problem is the extra cord lenght of the cam corder

Found the YT video for the Dongar adapter here. Definitely the way I am going!

Is there a power connector there even if you don't have an auto-dimming rear view mirror?

Ok since this has been asked numerous times - I dove into it but someone will need to verify some info, and this varies as if you have Rain Sens or Not.

Using a Fellow Member - with a ROW Ranger who was able to replace a short harness assembly at the mirror - he was able to add ACC to his Ranger.
So this tells me that - the Main (Input) harness SHOULD be wired at the mirror.
Then this short harness provides the power to the varied options (Trim Specific)

Now the UNKNOWN is if these harnesses are wired for ACC (IDK)

Ref: This Pic and all available connectors that come off of the Main-Connector
Main Connector = C919
If I am correct (14-Wires) Input (If ALL Rangers) are wired the same to this point.

Output - Is where the change happens, and the wires change and eliminates options you do not have. - Such as Auto-Dim Mirror / Rain Sense - ACC

All wiring for everything in that area comes from the C919 Connector with one exception
and that is the IPMA Camera Heater that comes direct from the IPMA (Internal) this a 2 -Wire connector

C919 - Input Connector 14-Pins (Main Connector)

Look at this connector and note how many wires are on it (Input Side)
for the purpose of this thread and the want/need to add a camera trigger I will only point out the locations of - Auto-Dim Mirror pinouts as if you had the Auto-Dim mirror (option)

Auto-Dim Mirror - Power = Pin # 2 - Blue/Brown
Auto-Dim Mirror - Ground =Pin # 13 - Black/Grey
Auto-Dim Mirror - Reverse Signal Input - Pin # 3 Green/Brown

Now look at the other side of the connector - you will note those cavities are empty, these would feed the 3-wire Auto-Dim mirror connector
This is what the Dongar adaptor connects to and taps for power, I don't know if that is using the Reverse Sense input or not - I think it is only using the Power & Ground

So, with that said
Here is some info:

The Input (Mian Harness) Connector is (Harness # 14334)
The Jumper Harness which you WANT is (Harness # 14G540)

So with some digging here is what I found, again this needs verified as TRUE Part Numbers

But this Part Number - If NO RAIN SENSE is Installed. KB3Z-14A411-C
4-Total Connectors
Main
Auto-Dim Mirror
IPMA
IPMA Heater

This Part Number (If Rain Sense is Installed) KB3Z-14A411-D
5-Total Connectors
Main
Rain Sense
Auto-Dim Mirror
IPMA
IPMA Heater

Rain Sense Harness.jpeg

Again - UNKNOWN if ACC is in these harness jumpers, I would imagine - YES
But for those who want to add a Tapping location for a Dash Cam, these along with the Dongar will let you do it.
Again, I have NOT verified the Part Numbers but appear to be correct but the TOP pic with the (4-Connectors) does have the correct harness # showing (14G540)
And then you need to verify you have the wires needed (included) in that Mian Input Connector.

EDIT: Update

To cover ALL (Auto-Dim Mirror) options
I noted that those that have the (Mirror / Rear Camera) Combo and does not use the Center Dash Display as the Camera.
The Auto-Dim Mirror connector will have 5-Wires for the added 2 inputs Video Feed (+) & (-)

So, with that noted the P/N: KB3Z-14A411-C (Without Rain Sense) has 12-Total Wires on it and a 3-Wire (A/D Mirror) Connector - This tells me that it has the ACC Wiring.
So, if you do not have (The A/D Mirror / Rear Camera Combo) the Output Connector of C919 will have a total of 12-Wires and 2-Empty Cavities.
Pins 11 & 12 - For the Rear Camera (Video Feeds (+) and (-) and then the connector for the IPMA Heater is tapped off of the IPMA Connector.

I am assuming the same wire pinout for the (Rain Sensor) version of the harness but cannot get a clear pic of that harness to confirm.

Note: If you have the A/D Mirror - Rear Camera Combo, this harness will be a different part number as you will need the version that has a 5-Pin connector for the mirror vs 3-Pin of this harness part number. IDK what that P/N is at this point, but it should be a similar number.

I thought I would check with those that have installed a dashcam to see how difficult it is - I purchased a Viofo A119 Mini 2 (forward only- I want to wire it up for parked video and got the wiring for that as well). I can do a fair amount of stuff, but am wondering if it is straightforward, or requires a lot of modification and is better to have a professional do it.

Dan, I merged this with a previous thread so you can see the results.
