I often wonder, do you sweat in a hot shower?

I’m guessing you’re sweating but just don’t see or feel it. Kind of like the dry heat here where it’ll be over a hundred degrees out but the humidity is in the low teens. Your sweat is evaporating before you see or feel it. Since you’re already wet when swimming you’re not going to notice it. Still seems weird to me though you’d actually need water from a bottle to cool off. Now coming out of a hot tub I can see. When I had mine I would take a cool/cold shower sometimes after getting out. But that water was at 102-104.

At 41 she should've hung it up a while ago and let someone younger represent us.

It is my understanding that you have to qualify to be in the Olympics, meaning she beat out the 'someone younger'.

I know many athletes don't want to admit they're getting old and it's time to hang it up. I just think she (maybe) took a spot away from someone else younger who would've had a better chance of winning.

I agree, as long as someone younger is better. Let's not age discriminate.

She was outperforming younger athletes. That how she got her spot in the Olympics. It's unfortunate she took a turn for the worse. Again, she was tearing it up.

Yes but she already has a full tear of the ACL before the Olympics. It was an accident waiting to happen and it did when you're competing at that level.

Vonn injured her left knee in a crash during the final downhill before the Milano Cortina Olympics on Jan. 30. She was able to get back up and ski down to the bottom of the course, but stopped several times to rest or check her knee.

Here's a list and dates of all her injuries in the past 19 years. Sorry, she should've stepped aside.

• January 2026: Torn ACL in left knee.
• January 2019: Impact injury to peroneal nerve.
• November 2018: Torn lateral collateral ligament and meniscus in left knee, three tibial plateau fractures from crash during training at Copper Mountain, Colorado.
• November 2016: Fractured humerus in right arm from crash during training at Copper Mountain, Colorado.
• August 2015: Broken ankle from crash during training in New Zealand.
• February 2016: Multiple fractures in left knee from crash during World Cup super-G in Andorra.
• December 2013: MCL sprain in right knee.
• November 2013: Torn right ACL from crash in training at Copper Mountain, Colorado.
• February 2013: Torn ACL and MCL in right knee and tibial plateau fracture in right leg following crash in super-G at world championships.
• February 2010: Broken right pinkie from crash in giant slalom at Vancouver Olympics. (Where she’d previously won the downhill gold.)
• December 2009: Microfractures in left forearm after crash during giant slalom in Lienz, Austria.
• February 2009: Severed tendon in right thumb cutting open champagne bottle at world championships in Val d'Isère, France.
• February 2007: Sprained right ACL after crash during training at the world championships in Åre, Sweden.

So bash her for trying. When she went out, there were younger athletes to take her place. I'd be willing to bet she trained longer and harder than her younger cohorts. She wouldn't have gotten to that place if her, or her coaches, or her trainers, or US Olympic officials thought she wasn't well prepared and ready. Previous injuries or not. lots of athletes of previous injuries to some degree.

Agree to disagree but this was all ego and nothing else. She should've never been there with all those injuries especially the most recent one in January. Her selfish motive and action lead to the denial to another who should have gotten the shot so while effort is nice, it doesn't win you gold metals.

Also let's not forget there was a ton of money from marketing on the line too. Maybe now she's eligible for the Paralympics.

On the surface, I'd say she earned her spot. Digging deeper, without any knowledge on my end, I'm sure many athletes had suffered injuries, although that was an impressive list of injuries. Considering the amount of money to be earned by some (always follow the money) it is a valid point that she was there as a money draw. She pushed it to the limits to live up to expectations, maybe to satisfy ego, and paid the price. It done and gone now, and hopefully she inspired others to achieve goals the old fashioned way, they earn it. (in the James Earl Jones voice)

Call it as I see it but for some reason you have this thing for her and it bothers you when someone else disagrees with you.

IMHO she did this for ego and money. No different that any other athlete who fails after their prime and should've hung it up years ago. Brett Favre is a shining example of that.

Yep, I see it differently. Enough said, but the Paralympic comment (insult) was a low blow.
