In 61 years I don't think I've ever seen anyone do this. :oops:o_O

:inspect: I was looking for her ankle monitor. 🤦‍♂️

Probably because she can't remember which side the fuel filler is located. This way, she has it covered.

Stupid kills. I just hope he didn't leave behind people who were dependent on him for their welfare.

The Darwin are the ones filming this. If I saw this I'd be in reverse so fast the last thing I'd be thinking about is filming it.

They usually(!) don't react violently unless threatened. I don't know where that was recorded, but snow on the ground indicates that it was probably after their rut (mid-late Sep-early Oct).

We had a unique opportunity to ride along with Chad Kremer, owner of Kremer Buffalo Custer, SD, while he moved a heard to a different range on another trip. He explained that you always need to move slowly but deliberately around them and never put your hands above their nose- they interpret this as a sign of aggression. We felt safe (and awestruck) with Chad out in an open herd as they have a mutual trust or bond. He has a herd that averages about 400 head on four different properties, this was a herd of about 90:

Oh, that maul handle is going to hurt. o_O
I once was attempting to remove a 8" diameter pine tree stump that I intentionally left ~3' tall to give me leverage when removing.

My bright idea was to use a come-along attached to a notch at 6" below the top of the stump and attach the other end to a bigger pine tree 15' away.

The idea was to dig around the stump, then tighten up the come-along to pull the stump over, repeat the dig, and tighten some more until I could cut most of the roots.

I dug, and began tightening the come-along standing behind the stump. I put a lot of pressure on that stump and it began to flex as expected. Everything was going as planned until it wasn't. I figured I'd put one last pull on that come-along and then began to dig a bit.

Things didn't work out as planned though....

The pulley at the far end of the cable snapped, releasing all that tension... and that pine tree stump violently snapped back into position, right into the family jewels! It tossed me to the ground... where I laid, unable to move, in extreme pain for 15 - 20 minutes!! It hurt so bad I couldn't walk... so there I lay in a fetal position.... unable to even move a little for what seemed like eternity!

I finally recovered enough to get up. Hobbled, each step an extremely painful reminder of my stupidity. Waited 2 hours. Went back out, fired up the chain saw and cut the stump near the ground, then dug a fire pit around it, poured a bag charcoal grill briquettes over the hole and lit them up... I let it smolder for a day and covered up the hole.

It seemed like a good idea at the time, but the road to hell is paved with good intentions. I have not owned a come-along since!

One last thought that my ole man used to tell me when I did something stupid. "Pain hurts!, But it will feel better when it quits hurtin."

That is my personal Darwin Award Honorable Mention.

Second place was dropping a car engine on my right foot big toe from 3' in the air when the engine lift chain broke. I was 16 and pulling my first engine. I waited 30 years before getting it fixed... but that's a story for another time.
