I hate to put a damper on your love but, your Gen 1 dampers will be obsolete when the electric remote control model comes out. ?

That's ok at least for now we get to enjoy them. I'm trying to figure out a way to make it work off the remote. Kind of like the auto windows on some vehicles where you double click the lock button? Wouldn't it be great to just add a module and be able to lower it from the remote? Sorry Jim (@wanted33) now there's something else to buy. Good luck with your wife and I hope you're insurance is up to date. :giggle:

I kid you not, I had my winter tires installed last week on my Ranger.
The tires obviously were in the bed.
While looking through the window in the waiting room at my truck in the garage, I saw the mechanic open the tailgate and he was taken aback by the damper action on it LOL
He kept nodding in approval and called another mechanic to show him my truck.
That was worth the cost of my damper right there!!!

BTW, the real reason for me to have the damper is because of my bum knees from 30 years of hard laboring. I can get in the bed with the tailgate closed but not hopping on it when open. (Age has taken a toll)
So I climb in the truck, open the tailgate from inside the bed and don't have to hear that bang when letting it drop. I just sit and exit when I get out.
Love it!

You know, the real reason is that they get paid/charge by the time used and waiting for that tailgate to open was a "bonus" check moment:angel:

After installing a tailgate damper, my Ranger developed a harsh drivetrain shudder between 70-75 mph. I had to put 2 deg shims in the rear leafs and 3/32" shims in the centre bearing mount to make it go away. I swear! ?

Maybe he is shuddering in fear. Mine does that if I even mention a damper.

What do you girls do while waiting for your damper to let that real heavy tailgate go down? Ck your lipstick, hair, look around to see if anybody is watching, etc? ?

Try to deflect the advances of the nubile young females demanding to know if I'm still single.

Without tailgate damper...

I don't know about everybody else, but I admire how much better the damper makes my truck look!

I may have to trade in my Ranger on something else - I just realized the sunglasses holder in the overhead console has a built-in damper. Is there a way to de-activate it in Forscan?
