Dave, when you get to your shortlist - with your OCD, I do not mean your first, second, third, or fourth shortlist, but your fifth and final shortlist. When you get there, research cordless tool battery adaptors for the vacuums you’re interested in.

You just need to Google search Shark to DeWalt adapter or Dyson to DeWalt, Shark to Ryobi, Milwaukee, etc.

If you already have cordless tools with larger batteries, this will give you the run-time you’re after.

You can even get adaptors so you can run DeWalt batteries on Milwaukee, Ryobi, Makita, Bosch, etc. and vice versa. I have a couple of old Ryobi tools that just won’t die and I got tired of looking for the batteries and chargers, so I put DeWalt adapters on them.
Thanks Duke. Doing a quick search it looks like most of these adapters are made for Dyson to xxx brand and are mostly for different battery to battery adapters but I'll have to dig deeper. I've finally narrowed it down to 2 cordless vacs I want to try. One is the Ryobi that John mentioned above and this one from Amazon which has pretty good reviews. Actually much better than the Dyson & Shark vacs I've been looking at for much less. It has a $30 off coupon and I messaged the seller about buying a spare battery. They said they were out of stock for sale on Amazon right now but once I order it to provide them with the order # and they'd ship me one direct (from China) for no charge. This one has a different base design (which most do) than the Dyson but I'm guessing since Dyson is so popular that's why there's an adaptor for those.

Adapters for cordless Shark units are also out there.

I bought a Tineco T2 EX Stick vac for our boatshed that I renovated and I liked it so much I bought the Tineco T3 EX Stick vac for the cottage - it has more runtime. It’s hands down better than Dyson I have for the house.

Many modern models offer strong suction, lightweight designs, and long battery life, making them great for quick cleanups or even full-house cleaning. But my vote goes to classic models simply because they are much cheaper :) Carpets are like silent storytellers in our homes. They collect memories, stains, and allergens over time, demanding a little TLC now and then. Professional cleaning services in the UK, like eMop, ensure your carpet gets the care it deserves. Their techniques, from hot water extraction to dry cleaning, breathe new life into carpets, making them look, feel, and smell fresh. What’s more, eMop offers cashback up to £150, making it a win-win. Their service isn’t just about cleaning; it’s about trust and thoroughness. From pre-clean inspections to a final quality check, their process is designed for satisfaction. The cherry on top? Eco-friendly solutions, safe for homes with pets or allergies. For details, visit https://www.emop.co.uk/carpet-cleaning

SweepScrub sells a variety of cordless vacs. Commercial grade, but a skimming over the site, some have the lightness and stamina your'e looking for.
Electron storage ain't cheap. I have a DeWalt 20v battery leaf blower, that came on sale with a 4h battery and a wall mount charger. I could barely blow out my 2 car garage and 24 ft driveway on a full charge. Bought the 10Ah battery and It will last a month, sweeping out the garage once-twice a week.
$249.
I paid $179 for the blower, charger and 4Ah battery..

Yeah, it seems like your buying the battery and they are throwing in the tool. Sort of like buying a printer, buy the ink and the printer is free! ?

No cordless vacuum can compete with the quarter eating towers of suction at the local car wash. I now realize this is about a house vacuum, not one for the car, But, that car wash vacuum is an option if you mix it with what @NotBudule2 did.

We have a refurbished Dyson that works very well. The downside is battery run time.
I'm still rocking the OG Dyson DC11. But I think I've got to retire it soon, the hose in the Turbine Head Assembly is cracking and I think that is one of the no longer available parts for that old model.

Since we're on the subject of vacuums, thought I'd share my redneck surprise I rigged up for the wifey a few years back...that's in the living room closet and that PVC goes through to the basement where it hooks into a shop vac that is controlled by that wall switch, 35 feet of hose will easily pull up from there and she/me can reach the most of the first floor ? , but the best part is that you can't hear anything but the suction, you can watch TV or talk with no noisey vacuum! We have doggos ? in the house so it's used evey day , she loves it and still gives me credit on it , she doesn't have to see it , hear it, or even empty it as it holds a LOT ... if we had carpet still I would have run the hose that has 110v cable in it to run a power head but it's not really needed here and was quite pricy...
Or, get a turbine power head like the old Dysons had, the suction is the power.
