We have a nice Shark corded vacuum but really wanted a good cordless one for the new house. There will be no carpet anywhere so I already purchased a couple different sized microfiber dusting mops for quick cleaning. Does anyone here have one that actually works good? Every single review I've read all have the same negative comments like not enough suction or the battery only last for 20-30 minutes max and sometimes less when run on high. These were all different ones from a cheap $100 China brand to the $600 Dyson. There are a few good sales for Black Friday but I can not find one with a half way decent review anywhere. Anyone...Bueller?
We've had this Eureka since May 2021 and it works great! And only $89. The daughter has a fancy Dyson but ours seems to be just as good. We also have Orecks but this stick one is good for quick cleaning. We even thrashed it with our sheetrock work and it's still going strong.

I also can't say enough good about a Eufy robot vac. We've had it since 2020. It's less than a Roomba and is a "dumb" vac. It makes a randomn pattern, it doesn't map out the house. It runs for about 90 minutes and does our 700 square foot first floor thoroughly.

We had gobs of dust bunnies but if we run this regularly, it's amazing how well it does. In fact, if we're really good about doing it twice a week, we don't use our bigger vacs.

LOL, here's an old vid of Cheech with that robot vac. =)

Since we're on the subject of vacuums, thought I'd share my redneck surprise I rigged up for the wifey a few years back...that's in the living room closet and that PVC goes through to the basement where it hooks into a shop vac that is controlled by that wall switch, 35 feet of hose will easily pull up from there and she/me can reach the most of the first floor ? , but the best part is that you can't hear anything but the suction, you can watch TV or talk with no noisey vacuum! We have doggos ? in the house so it's used evey day , she loves it and still gives me credit on it , she doesn't have to see it , hear it, or even empty it as it holds a LOT ... if we had carpet still I would have run the hose that has 110v cable in it to run a power head but it's not really needed here and was quite pricy...
Now that's the best 'ol WV redneck ingenuity that I ever saw. ? Now, to keep this here or move it to the Redneck thread:question:

Seriously that's a great idea and I bet it does work great with the shop vac attached to it! I'm just not sure the building inspector would allow that here. ?

That seems to be very common with these. Some reviews (on the same vacuum) will say great battery life then you'll get 5 others saying how bad the battery life is. ?‍♂ I try and read through several pages of reviews to see if there's a pattern and the mediocre battery life is a big one on almost all of them. I remember a few years ago Costco had a Dyson that came with 2 batteries but they no longer offer that and it seems like most don't.
Dyson still offers a 2 battery model at $799, but it is expensive!

I was just investigating this myself. I think I'll stick with the the old Dyson DC14 cord model (carpet), and the Dyson Big Ball Multi floor canister corded (hardwood floors) that we use now.

Wifey got this one on sale at Walmart for $65 a few days ago , she got it to hit all the rugs around the house and for quickies .
With the beater bar attached, high power is a must on any rug or carpet , but hardwood and tile works great , be nice if you could turn off the beater bar to save battery on flat floors but it stays on ... haven't really timed it yet but it seams ok ?, BUT , the battery takes a good while to charge it seemed like. I leave the crevice tool and wand on it and use it like a little clean up gun...

I WISH she had asked me first because Ryobi makes some nice ones and I have bunches of those batteries and chargers already ...
Screenshot_20241127_212906_Google.jpg

I notice the Ryobi says "freestanding" and I think the one we have also said that, but it's not once you put the heavy battery in it ... sadly...
I inherited a couple sets of ryobi tools. Had always had dewalt. Was really surprised at the value of ryobi. Since I had the tools with plenty of batteries I bought the vacuum. It is absolutely fantastic. If mine ever goes out I'd buy another. Battery life isn't great but I already have plenty of batteries. I can do a thorough job on my small house with a 5 amp battery on the lowest suction setting. I dont seem to have a problem staying upright even with battery in it.

Without that thing spinning in the head most of the cheap ones are worthless. It helps to push the dirt into the hose to pick stuff up.
I have one of the Chinese ones in our basement and it is worthless without the head. Works good for 15 minutes with the head on low pile carpet and concrete. Forget it on shaggy carpet.

I just can't bring myself to spend $800 on a stick vacuum. We have a really good Shark corded vac but it's bulky and kind of heavy for Annie and I always step on the darn cord when using it.

John, which model did you buy? I'm going to look at these Ryobi's a little more seeing as I need to buy a new cordless drill soon. It might make more sense to get one of these and have a few extra batteries for both. We already have a couple microfiber dust mops like the ones below which we use for quick touch ups. Living in AZ all those years (and having dark tile & hardwood floors) you had to dust every couple of days with all the dust out there.

That's good to know thanks Ed! While we don't have any pets Annie has long hair and it can get everywhere. lol

I looked into the LG and even called them yesterday and it's a new model that they have out. She showed me a similar one one their site but it has the same negative reviews about really short battery life. I do like buying certain things from Costco because they stand by their sales even when out of warranty, within reason.

We use the Ryobi 18v cordless vacuum for quick cleaning and touch ups
I have mine converted to accept my M18 batteries
It’s been great but definitely not the best option for a fully carpeted room. But it can handle the hardwood and throw rugs no problem.

Read the reviews on the Eufy robotic vacuums. People like them.
Thanks but that's a robot vacuum, we really want a stick vac. After reading a bunch more last night I think we're going to try the Ryobi that John @Buckbull has. The reviews are good and I like the idea of using the same batteries as all their other One+ tools. It's not on sale right now so I might wait until the house is finished in the spring to buy it.

I love this setup! I may do something similar in my new place. ?

Dave, when you get to your shortlist - with your OCD, I do not mean your first, second, third, or fourth shortlist, but your fifth and final shortlist. When you get there, research cordless tool battery adaptors for the vacuums you’re interested in.

IMG_8002.jpeg

You just need to Google search Shark to DeWalt adapter or Dyson to DeWalt, Shark to Ryobi, Milwaukee, etc.

If you already have cordless tools with larger batteries, this will give you the run-time you’re after.

You can even get adaptors so you can run DeWalt batteries on Milwaukee, Ryobi, Makita, Bosch, etc. and vice versa. I have a couple of old Ryobi tools that just won’t die and I got tired of looking for the batteries and chargers, so I put DeWalt adapters on them.
