Do what I did....look at a used Ford Expedition. I needed larger to tow. Found a used 2019 one owner, sold the Ranger to Carvana, and bought the Expedition from a local dealer. Made mopre from the Ranger than asking price for the Expy so came out ahead.
Lots of room, 3 rows, and in sport mode the 3.5 twin turbo will easily run with a Ranger in sport mode....it flat gets up n goes !!!

@DukeCanBuildit is not wrong. I had to do exactly that back in the early 2000's, traded my Silverado for an Olds minivan. Soooooo convenient, and comfortable for all of us. We drove it til it died.

For a recent former job (hauling special needs kids to and from school) I drove a Toyota Sienna hybrid minivan. It was solid, comfortable, and got really good fuel mileage. I would absolutely recommend at least looking at and driving one. You may surprise yourself!

I have had two Chevys and two Fords and had better luck with the Chevy's but currently, I don't have faith in any of the manufactures right now. Even the highly respected toyotas are having trouble with their newer vehciles. If you are looking at GM or Ford, I would probably stick with either the 5.3 V8 or 2.7L Turbomax in the GM or the Ford 3.5 Ecoboost. I have not heard of many issues with the I6 Duramax but I just can't get over a wet timing oil pump belt in the back of the engine but is another consideration.

Now, I’m not quite sure what you’re referring to Chris but I think I better start making some hats!

You can have the first one. :D

If you're going to be regularly carrying 4 adults and a baby / toddler (near future,) I'd say consider prioritizing something like an Expedition and tow a trailer for your property work. This all really depends on your frequency with each.. if you're hauling stuff for your property 7 days a week and hauling the entire family 2 days a week, perhaps an F150 makes more sense. But if it's flipped around the other way you may want to prioritize family comfort.

F150s have quite a bit bigger cabin than the Ranger, but with 4 adults you'll still have two adults and the baby sharing the back bench which can get cramped.

Yeah SUV/minivan. Maybe you can find some opportunity in this and get a family vehicle while saving a few dollars behind to buy an older truck. You can go vintage, or find something like a 2003 Chevy/GMC 2500 with the 6.0L engine. That’s a very very reliable engine and those trucks can be had sub-$10k and under 200k miles. Tho I’d say the average on those trucks is more like 220k.
Good luck!

Did you mean to say 3.5L ?
No. 3.3L naturally aspirated V6. Non ecoboost. Ford offered a NA V6 in the F150’s up to 2024. I had the 3.5 NA in my 2016. They’ve offered it in 3.3, 3.5 and 3.7 displacements over the years. It’s part of the Cyclone engine family.

So I actually just traded my Ranger in the other weekend for an F-150, with one kiddo in a car seat and another on the way it just made sense to get a second bigger vehicle. Our Explorer ST will be great when they're a little older, at least in forward facing, but right now its a little restrictive because it has the 2nd row captains chairs, making it a poor roadtrip rig while they're still young.

Found a great deal on a '23 F-150 XLT Powerboost, just two years old and 23k miles on it, damn thing is in great shape aside from some scratches that i need to address with a paint touchup kit. While i miss the size of the ranger for maneuverability, the extra interior space, power and fuel economy is great! Ranger averaged 18 mpg with around town and highway driving, this crazy thing is claiming 23 mpg thanks to that hybrid system. Still on my first tank so not sure how good it actually is, but i haven't even burned a quarter tank of gas and i'm sitting at about 170 miles on the trip so...
