Didn’t get a pic but mine started just like normal here in -12 degrees
Any block heater or heated garage?

Mine's pretty new with only 1,800 miles and 20 months on the battery.

I'll let you know when it gets cold; it was only -16 with a -25 wind chill today.

I was out camping last weekend, doing an Advanced Wilderness & Disaster First Aid course, and one of the instructors was ex-military, and talked about having done a tour in the North where it would be -55 and they'd be sleeping in little lean-to's which were open at the bottom, so they'd get buried in the snow as they slept; actually, it kept them warm.

On the other end of the spectrum, I did a tour in Africa, and the local's teeth would start chattering when it hit mid-30C/90F; I think that I gave some of them pneumonia just by mentioning the concept of "winter camping".

Wait a minute...are you the guy who actually subscribes to Sirius/XM? I heard they had one subscriber.
Guilty! ✋ But for $5/month it's better than listening to to babble heads on morning radio here.

This is why the government wants to ban them. Punish the many for the few. Not saying I wont try this now, because I probably will.
Just make sure you don't have an over the range microwave.

Did this day one in the new house. You know the boss had to have it.... It changes everything and makes life so much better. If I can make giant flames without burning down my house, I might have to agree.

Yeah the are really nice and I think look a lot better than a micro overhead. You do lose the cabinet storage above but unless you're a giant they're useless anyways. Plus I just put extra light bulbs and other extra stuff up there which I usually forget about anyways. lol

No pictures but I did remote start mine that one night before Christmas weekend and our local temperature said -5 F. And no, I didn't go outside. I started it using the app and I will say that you could tell by how it sounded when it turned over that it was severely cold. It's rare for it to get that cold here. And for the record, I had about 3600 miles on it when I did that.

I think mine also sounded a tiny bit sluggish to start. It still fired up on the one crank but maybe a second slower. Not much, but like you said, it seemed to be a bit more effort for it to go.

Excellent on the remote start with the app, I was a little OCD using the app to keep checking the tire pressure. =)

ive never seen it in person but read some equipment manuals a few years ago for military trucks and gensets used in very cold places. growing up in the dfw area learning that some places were so cold engines had to run 24/7 otherwise freeze up solid shocked my lil brain lol?. things like doing oil changes, "exchanges" rather- with the diesels running seemed like sci fi to me ?. about the most engine trouble i knew of cold related until then was slow starting farm tractors that had to stayed plugged in to heat and then nursed to life and then babied to a steady idle. had a neighbor with one of the old gm converted from gas to diesel engines. watching him try to get it running in winter was always entertaining
I remember my dad talking about using a road flare on the oil pan of the old Mack just to get the oil warm enough to allow it to flow then pour the ether to the air cleaner while spinning her over. It would sound like the pistons and rods were trying to come out to see the morning sunlight for a few minutes till it finally started firing on all six.
I had four of the Cummins 5.9 both 12 valve and 24 valve and he was always amazed at how well they started in the cold weather. I’ve started them at zero degrees but I cringed every time till they finally smoothed out.
On a side note, if your dad is still alive, enjoy every minute you can with him. I miss mine every day……….

This reminded me of an earlier post about the proper way to cold start a vehicle using ether starter fluid. I dug it up and posted it below because the directions on the can are WRONG.

If I recall correctly, the directions on the can said to spray it in the breather opening for 1-2 seconds - or something of that nature.

Yeah, that ain’t gonna work! These are the proper instructions…

Remove the breather cover and spray generously right into the carburetor - continue spraying until your finger is frost bitten - hold the choke open with a screwdriver if needed - step back and tell your friend to crank it over - when it doesn’t start, lean in and continue spraying directly into the carburetor while yelling to your friend, “KEEP CRANKIN’ IT”! - after it starts and your friend floors it and and starts revving the pants off it, making your screwdriver dance around the carburetor, yell at him “STOP! WHAT THE F**K ARE YOU DOING?” Then, tell him how stupid he is and that you told him not to touch the gas pedal - remove screwdriver if one was used - leave the breather cover off so you don’t have to remove it later - toss breather cover in the back seat - slam the hood shut.

But I guess they didn’t have room for all of that on the can.
