I wish I could get any where near the numbers I see you guys getting. I have a 4x2 XLT crew cab. I drive like a grandpa obsessing trying to keep my rpm below 2000. I’ve never even seen 20 mpg on my dash. Hand calculating my average is between 17.5 and 18.2. My dad freakin laughs at me because his 2.7 f150 gets 19.5.
What sort of conditions are you driving in to get that MPG? I have a 4x4 with oversize tires, I get 22-26 on dash, hand calced in the 21-24 range. Best tank with stock tires was 31.X dash and 30.X hand calced, net descent, but over a few passes.

The F150 3.5 EcoBoost I got to borrow got 20-21 Dash reported, which was 19ish hand calced, brand new truck, 0 miles on it.

How many miles do you have? It takes 2-3k miles before mileage starts to get better, at least that was my experience.

I'm not sure trying to keep RPMs below 2k is actually always the right answer for mileage. Sometimes that requires more gas to maintain speed. I'd keep the instant MPG gauge up while driving to see how the engine responds to throttle input. I've learned to increase my MPG a bit by how I use the throttle by using that gauge. But I can't help flooring it now and again (which tanks it pretty fast).
I almost always keep the instant mpg showing. Even on cruse control. I have learned a lot about getting good mileage from watching it. Texas to Georgia: 800 miles, 27.3 mpg. A lot of "old" US highways, speed limited to 65. Ranger XL, 2-wheel drive, SuperCab. Used "regular" gas.

By chance are you running larger diameter tires than your ranger originally came with? I say this because I had a 4x2 loaner that the dealer had installed off road tires on but they didn’t correct the computer for the tires. The speedometer was 3 to 4 miles an hour off and I could not do any better than 19 MPG. Being that far off effects the number of miles traveled, therefor the mpg. Our 4x4 that we bought does much better.

That is same setup I have & exactly the same hand calculated mpg that I am getting. The dash always shows around 19-19.5. 60% is highway but there are several overpasses & it has been very windy. I only have 2200 miles on the truck so I am hoping it gets better very soon.
Maybe it's a Texas thing......

I have checked mine twice. Once it was registering 22.8 mpg and it calculated out to 22.9 mpg. The other time it was reading 23.3 and it calculated out to 23.1 mpg. Both times were after approx 200 miles. I am running 35 psi in my tires. I chalked them and it looked good and I don't notice a difference in ride. Not sure how much, if any it's helping my mpg.

I have been checking mine (Lariat FX4, 30PSI) since i bought her, she initially was down at 14L/100km (16-17 mpg) for the first 400 or so km, but has steadily improved with mileage. Now at 3600 km I am averaging 11.8 - 12.5L/100km (18.8 - 20 mpg) in very hilly terrain, 90% city driving, mostly in rush hour traffic. I'm sure if I didn't have to crawl (<50kph) over all the hills between the bay I live in and downtown I would be seeing far better numbers.

I run 33 PSI in my tires. The label says 30 PSI. No issue with ride quality. Have two trips to the gulf with a kayak in the bed on the current tank of gas (87 octane) and am averaging 27.1 after those 2 trips. That's a combined distance of around 340 miles. No Interstate driving. Filling the truck up today as I am pulling the trailer with 2 kayaks in the morning. Will see if my trailer mileage improves. Was around 21 mpg the last time I had to take 2 kayaks. Not using trailer tow mode as it's not necessary and that way I can get to the 10th gear.

On my last tank fill up the readout on the truck stated 22.5 mpg average, but when I calculated it I only got 20.8. I only have 1,000 miles on the truck so I will try it again in the future. It's pretty surprising that the truck's calculations and my calculations are that far off though.

XLT FX4 Super Crew. My wife and I have been enjoying driving in the NW and NE mountains of Georgia this week; over 500 miles so far and heading out again tomorrow. Have averaged 26.6 MPG. I am pleased.

Funny thing on how these class actions work.

My son bought a new 2013 Hyundai Elantra with a class action case due to MPGs.
Last week I received a $20.41 gift card as the settlement. In order to activate the gift card, you must have the last 5 digits of the VIN#. After 6 years, I don't have that VIN#. I imagine some others won't too.
$20.41 and the lawyers got millions.

I have absolutely no complaints regarding the MPG. I can count on 22/23 around town and easily 27-28 on the highway. I can lower that by "enjoying " the truck more if ya know what I mean.....But I have been told I drive like Mr Magoo as if there is a full wine glass on the dash and an egg under my foot on the accelerator. Hee hee Kind of hard to do habitually when the truck has so much giddy-up.

I use cruise control on every drive. Not sure if that makes much of a difference
