Okay I just want to see if I’m the only person experiencing this. Last year 18June2021 someone must have been in the process of removing my intake but must have got spooked and ran off, anyway the next day I started up the good ole ranger drove about a mile boom lost power turns out there was a rag in the turbo. I paid $3,7898.39 for ford to install a new turbo and clean the cooling system, since my warranty would void if I took it else where or just removed the rag and had them clean it. So fast forward to today I was going on the on ramp heard a metal clank followed by a huge puff of smoke. The turbo went out, truck only had 23k miles took it to the dealership they won’t be able to do anything for about 3 weeks. Truck has a few tasteful mods: intake, exhaust, intercooler with piping .( which had been installed since I bought the truck). Anyway just seeing if anyone has ran into a blown turbo issue.

What else did you leave in there? Clean cooling system? Why? How much boost? Tuned for ”tasteful” mods?

This reminds me of the engine failure post.

So was your truck originally vandalized? Is that how the rag got in there?
I was considering this....
There had to be access to the cab to unlock the hood.
There had to be a fair amount of noise being made to have all that wrenching going on.
Surely this was being done out in public (albeit probably in the dark?), so someone should have noticed this weirdness going on?
So many questions, and so few details.
I'm sure it'll all get cleared up soon ;)

Pretty sure it was caused by all the mods...
Perhaps so.
But which mod was it that included the rag?
I want to stay far away from that one!

I've been in law enforcement for close to 15 years now, and I've seen it all when it comes to auto thefts/burgs. I've never heard of them stealing intakes, much less putting a rag anywhere lol..

That was to muffle all the turbo noise caused by the mods.
I just can't believe someone would be stealing an intake and if they were and took off in a hurry, would have taken the time to close the hood and clean everything up to the point that the op wouldn't have noticed something. If anything, it was a mess left by the previous owner.

When did you leave law enforcement to get into damper sales?
