Very likely the brake hose was either not secured properly into the retaining bracket that's bolted to steering knuckle, or the brake hose bracket itself got bent and shifted the hose causing it to rub. It could have been cause by debris on the road, however this is unlikely as that bracket is fairly solid and does not bend easily. I'm betting it happened in transport when the driver secured the truck to the trailer and likely caught the brake hose bracket with the hook/straps when securing the truck.Fixed!!!!
Front brake hose was rubbing against mag.
We now know it takes 3000 miles to go through the front brake hose.
Wheels were never off.
No idea how it happened?
I'll go with damaged in transport.
New hose will come in next week, will have a loner, Escape.
My question is, we pay for them to do prep work before delivery to us, right, so they should have caught this.
So, what does the forum say?
1 - Cause?
2 - Delership responsibility?
Is this a dealer responsibility? This is not something that they check for in the initial PDI. So unless they bent the bracket when performing service on the truck then no. However a competent tech performing a multi-point inspection (if requested by you) during service should have caught it.
