Warmed up the truck yesterday, after a couple weeks of not driving. After going out to breakfast, took the family up in the mountains to look at the windmills. I couldn't get as close as I wanted, the service road wasn't plowed. However, the other roads my ranger handled really well. 4wd never skipped a beat. I was impressed. I've included a couple pictures from the summer of when my dad and I toured the project in my jeep. I got access to tour it under construction since I had to appraise it for the county (taxes). Forgive me if I already shared these, I forget easily. Oh and for height, they're roughly 450' to the motor, 650' to the tip of the blade all the way up.

I am SO doing this on the first long weekend at the cottage - white bread and all. May 24 can’t come soon enough. In the meantime, Atlantic Cod and Gulf Shrimp tacos will have to do...

Took a little drive along the aptly named Camino Cielo in Santa Barbara county to look down on the Pacific Ocean and the Channel Islands.

Are you all in on that orange now? No regrets on the other color?

Hi Folks,

I got a personal tour of the Davis Monthan famous boneyard. This was a one on tour in my little 2007 Ford Ranger by the former commanding officer of the boneyard, Col. Don R. (retired). This is something that the general public cannot do and has no access to see, much less photograph. There is a bus tour from the Pima Air and Space Museum, but you only see tiny bit of the boneyard. I got to walk around the planes and up into the big C5As. Watched a B52 being destroyed for the Russian agreement to limit the 52s. They use a huge blade to break the planes spine, then leave it for a few days for the Russian Spy satelite to verify... Quite a day for me to sit in the cockpit of an F16 as well! Took most of the day to tour. Scary was the tankers that sprayed Agent Orange in Vietnam. These planes are off limit to everyone but mechanical robuts...they are to be burried in a huge clay lined pit...not sure about this but this is the plan approved by the county...

Here are a few of the pictures.

Thanks for the pics Phil, I'd love to have taken that private tour.
A little FYI on the F-16's. Quite often the lower time airframes are pulled from the boneyard, get life extension upgrades, and sold to allies as a low cost alternative to new jets. Sadly some of the higher time airframes are being converted to QF-16 drones to be used as targets as the supply of F-4's for that purpose is about to run out, and they have far better evasion performance capability. Target drones are not always shot down, often they are just used as radar targets.
Also the B-52's that get destroyed are some of the nuclear capable ones per treaty.

Aftermarket intercooler, colder plugs, and a tune. Patiently waiting on spring.

I've been looking for a Mustang, best I've seen so far is an older 4.6 convertible with an automatic. I want three things, v8, manual, convertible, but I'll settle for two out of three.

I've had mine since May of 18, and I've been pleasantly surprised. The v8 wasn't really on my radar. I too wanted a manual, though. The only v8 I would consider now would be the gt350, but that's a touch out of my range. This car has been great so far, my dad (old v8 guy) has been surprised by it's quickness too. 310 hp, 30mpg (when using eco not boost, ha), and good insurance rates. I'm excited to see how the tuning is going to improve it. Don't let the 4 cyclinder scare you away from trying one.

My issue is the 4cyl is newer than my budget will allow right now, I almost bought a 4cyl, 6spd, hard top as a daily driver right before I bought the Ranger. As a second car my budget is closer to $10K.

Gotcha. Keep an eye out as this generation matures a little. 15's can be had for 15k now. Just gotta make sure they're maintained and not beat to hell. That's the hard part.
