I work in county government. Our voting registration office was getting rid of old ballot boxes, so I snagged a couple. Now I gotta figure something to build out of them. My first thought was that I kinda wished I didn't already have a swing box. I would fab some swing boxes out of them. Thoughts?

Who were they full of votes for? ;)

Since I do not have gutters on the front of my house, as the snow slides down the metal roof it gradually curls under itself during the day and then re-freezes at night. This causes the icicles to point at the house. They haven't grown to where they touch the windows yet.

Hi Folks,

I got a personal tour of the Davis Monthan famous boneyard. This was a one on tour in my little 2007 Ford Ranger by the former commanding officer of the boneyard, Col. Don R. (retired). This is something that the general public cannot do and has no access to see, much less photograph. There is a bus tour from the Pima Air and Space Museum, but you only see tiny bit of the boneyard. I got to walk around the planes and up into the big C5As. Watched a B52 being destroyed for the Russian agreement to limit the 52s. They use a huge blade to break the planes spine, then leave it for a few days for the Russian Spy satelite to verify... Quite a day for me to sit in the cockpit of an F16 as well! Took most of the day to tour. Scary was the tankers that sprayed Agent Orange in Vietnam. These planes are off limit to everyone but mechanical robuts...they are to be burried in a huge clay lined pit...not sure about this but this is the plan approved by the county...

Here are a few of the pictures.

Scary stuff that AO, still killing many of vets & indigenous! Think the only way to cleanse for certain would be falling into the sun! Bet those planes/parts will still be a killer long after atomic fuel rods went to 0 on a geiger counter.

Otherwise, what a unique experience Phil, glad you got to see that in person and "play" with a few of the toys.

Phil, they were Ranch Hand C-123's and unfortunately a lot of us, of my era, have already seen the inside of them. The attached link will show the disposition of most of the ones used including the ones you spoke of. Some are actually still being used in other countries. I would have enjoyed that tour. https://www.vetshq.com/happened-c-123-aircraft/

Some shots from our recent vacation to the southern Blue Ridge Mountains, mainly NC and SC. Took 2 days to get down there and 2.5 to get back. Total of 8.5 days, 3000 miles on the truck, 13 waterfalls, 6 new states to put on the camper, 5 National Forests, 1 National Park, and many miles of hiking. We were able to stay basically isolated by camping and hiking remote trails. Didn't get as warm as we'd like, but still a lot warmer than when we left home. All-in-all it was an amazing trip! Definitely someplace we have decided to go back and visit someday.

Touring the boneyard is a big item on my list. I got close once in that I visited the Pima museum but was too late to get a tour, they were all booked up. Very cool that you got to see beyond the tour area! Helps to know people I guess.
HI Matt,

Back story on this tour....Col Don R. the commanding officer lived on the street below us. His next door neighbor was Professor Roz H. director of the University of Arizona director of the UofA School of Mines. Professor H's wife and my wife got to know each other and we had dinner together a few times and when Professor H and I agreed that I would be a consultant to the School of Mines.

So Col R had a display case of his Air Force medals and a flag. It was on top of his book case in his office and came crashing down, trashing the case. He was devastated and lamented the fact to Professor H. Professor H said he knew a neighbor that had done extensive clock case restorations for his collection and that he could fix the case. So Col. R, Professor H. and I got together. It took me about a week to restore the case to its former glory and Co. R was so taken with happiness that he offered the grand tour of the Bone Yard. I took him up on his offer as an Air Force brat I had been around Air Force planes for much of my life. As I indicated...a tour of a life time.... So you make your skill set available to others and doors open! Try to open these doors...No way... Just do your best and things happen....

Here are a few more pictures.

Thanks for posting these pictures Phil. Liked to have done the tour myself! I have been down in a minuet man missile silo, also in a B-17, A-7, c-140 maybe a B-52 as well. I may have some of my numbers wrong!

Looks like you had a very eventful trip Matt. Beautiful country down there especially in the fall.
But I have to say the Ranger never looked so clean
