I finally did my side vents last night and they came out pretty good. I used that new product from Plasti-dip called HyperDip. The only complaint I have is when you are applying the product in a downward spray situation it tends to spit sometimes which can cause large droplets to form on the sprayed surface. They recommend 6-8 coats....I put on 9 coats. I ordered the emblem and badge blackout kit which comes with 2 cans of HyperDip spray and a can of cleaner. I only used 1 3/4 cans to do the vents. I'm going to order 1 more can and do my skid plate.

After you painted them and put them back on did you use another piece of 3m tape or do the clips hold it just fine?

If you don't want to take out the vents you could always just masking tape with newspaper. It's what I did. Less clips to worry about breaking, I will more than often leave things on.

I believe I just popped them back on...clips hold well same as the dash tray....

Glad I sprayed my side vents for about $30 with the "dip" spray as opposed to the $182 blacked-out Ford side vents. I can use that extra money for one of the adjustable Eibach front shocks ($134) I want to upgrade too over the leveling kit and still have enough left for a six pack...

I also get a completely matte black finish I'm looking for with the spray. You can spend A LOT of extra money for nothing on these trucks....that's for sure. I'm thinking about spraying the skid plate too since the stuff holds up to the weather and washings so well.
